About Avery

What's your biggest strength as a player, and how does it show up in games?

I think my biggest strengths are my technical ability, work rate, determination, and versatility. I’m confident with both feet, which helps me take on defenders, create scoring opportunities, and get shots off from different angles. I also work hard throughout the game and don’t give up on plays, even when things don’t go my way. I’m also comfortable playing multiple positions.

What are you working to improve right now?

Right now, I’m working on getting ready for the faster pace and more physical side of the college game. The players are bigger and stronger, and the game moves quicker, so I’m focused on getting stronger and getting more comfortable playing at an even higher intensity. I want to be prepared to step in and compete at that level!

What are you looking for in a college program?

I’m looking for a program where I can compete at a high level and keep developing as a player. I want to be part of a competitive team with a strong team culture, where the players push each other but are also really supportive. I’m also looking for coaches who will challenge me and help me improve, and a school that’s a good academic fit!

Outside of your sport, what should coaches know about you?

Outside of soccer, I love volunteering and coaching younger kids. I’ve received two service awards for my volunteer work, and I’m also a co-head of Morgan’s Message and a Campus Captain for The Hidden Opponent at my school. I come from a big family, so being part of a team and supporting others has always been a big part of who I am!

What do you want to study, and what career interests you?

I’m not exactly sure what I want to study yet, but I know I want to work with people and help others. I’m interested in a career in education or another service based profession.
