Thompson also exceled in possession, quickly scanning the field and switching the point of attack with intelligent passes. The midfielder also helped set up good transition plays with accurate long balls.

She is an active tackler who does exceptionally well in using her body to gain possession of the ball after poking it away from the opposition. Thompson does well in retaining possession as she quickly scans for teammates and makes the correct decision. She’s a midfielder who won’t get stuck on playing the direction she is facing when making the next pass. Thompson shines next to talented players and elevates her teammates, which is a reason she wears the captain’s armband for her club team.
