Thompson and her FC Westlake U17 side are scheduled to go against San Juan SC, United Futbol Academy and San Diego Surf during their time in Phoenix. A dominant defensive midfielder, she is incredibly hard to get by in the center of the field thanks to her impressive instincts and determination. Thompson also stands out on the ball, as she does an excellent job of quickly scanning the field, identifying the best passing option and moving the ball when in possession. That combination allows her to set up great transition plays with direct passes played from the center of the field right after dispossessing opponents.

Thompson provided great stability for Sting Austin at the defensive midfielder spot and was a key cog in the team’s playing system. Her high-energy game and her ability to win duels contributed to the team’s strong defensive performance, as she managed to shut down many of Challenge’s plays through the middle. Thompson also exceled in possession, quickly scanning the field and switching the point of attack with intelligent passes. The midfielder also helped set up good transition plays with accurate long balls.

Thompson is one of those players who pops off the screen from game film at the ECNL level, which is a pretty safe sign she will be a top talent at the next level too. She is a defensive midfielder on the Sting Austin 2010 ECNL team. She is an active tackler who does exceptionally well in using her body to gain possession of the ball after poking it away from the opposition. Thompson does well in retaining possession as she quickly scans for teammates and makes the correct decision. She’s a midfielder who won’t get stuck on playing the direction she is facing when making the next pass. Thompson shines next to talented players and elevates her teammates, which is a reason she wears the captain’s armband for her club team.
