About Dekker

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

High School ball is more direct attack with long balls. I am a true utility player and get moved to lots of positions depending on opposition and subbing rules. Elite Academy Club team is more indirect, possession ball. I see space and the field to deliver scoring opportunities. On defensive I understand angles and keeping them out of scoring opportunities.I am a leader and talker on the field.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am never the most talented player on the field but I am one of the hardest workers on the field. I ask for feedback because I want to improve. I lead by example. I was HS team Capt last year as a junior. I have been club cpt for several seasons. I take most of our free kicks and can handle pressure well.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I have volunteered for many years with Angelwings Foundation. I also have volunteered to run our Mt Rainier FC Cleat Exchange for many years helping kids trade in and get new cleats.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I work with in my community for the City of Buckley as a Seasonal parks worker. I understand working independently and with little direction.Punctual and responsible. I jump in and have a team mentality. Leading by example and well respected by my peers as team captain.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Almost every year comes new coaches and teammates. I have played at a high level for many years and you are always fighting to prove yourself and develop. My sophomore year we made it to State to show up to play on a real grass cowfield coming from turf all year. Being able to talk your teammates through the scenarios and instil confidence.

What type of college are you looking for?

Preferably NAIA/D2, I like the smaller school feel. I don't want to be a number in a large lecture hall. I enjoy relationships with classmates and staff that actually know me.
