About Elena

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

As a centerback I try to be a ball hawk and win any type of ball played into my area. I also do well in blocking attempted shots on goal. I feel that communication from that position is critical for my teams success. As an outside back, I enjoy making runs up the line and serving balls into the box. My speed allows me to recover after I have made a deep run.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I believe I am a good teammate and my goal is to make the players around me better all the time. I work hard in practice and expect the same from my teammates. I enjoy being a positve role model on my team and I try to lead by example on and off of the field.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am in Spanish Club and have received a Spanish Honor Society Membership this year.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I do community service through my Beadling Soccer club and with my high school team doing youth soccer camps. I have also worked many of my father's community soccer camps over the past few years and I enjoy working with the young players.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Yes, I had a knee injury that kept me out for around 2 months and it was a struggle mentally to miss practicng with my teammates and I missed the GA playoffs. When I was able to return, it was frustrating to be at the level I was prior to the injury. I learned that patience and hard work do pay off and now that I am fully back to where I want to be, I feel more confident in my overall ability.

What type of college are you looking for?

A college that has a strong academic and athletic reputation. A school that values each player as an athlete and scholar. I would like a school promotes a family environment and wants all players to reach their persoal and team goals.
