About Grant

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

My style of play looks for team focused combinations and possession. I also enjoy getting all my teammates involved in the build up and working together as a defensive unit. I look for the through pass to break lines in the attack. Defensively I look to anticipate and intercept the pass. I am versatile so I have had experience adapting to whatever the team needs me to do.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

My mentality is resilient, adaptable, always working to improve, and team oriented. My personality is pleasant, always ready with a smile, coachable and willing to take feedback.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Multicultural club Leadership committee on the soccer team Marketing and social media committee on the soccer team

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I joined the leadership committee for my team, meeting with the program director to review any ways to improve the program. I joined the social media/marketing committee to develop brand marketing skills. I volunteered to referee a local tournament for kids in Lake Placid. I fundraised for our team trip to Costa Rica last year by participating in a 100 mile run around the town of Lake Placid.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I decided to move away from home at 13 yrs old for prep school in 9th grade. I lived on my own at school, balancing academics and soccer. I played 2 years up on a U17 team, earned minutes with many international teammates 2 years older, some on their national teams. I adapted to traveling to games almost every weekend by bus for hours, up to 11 hours, and also by plane while being in school.

What type of college are you looking for?

A college with both a strong soccer program as well as academics to help me develop as a player, a person, and as a student. I would like to find a college that helps in my pursuit to continue to play at higher levels as well as get the education to find have a career in entrepeneurship.
