Guilherme Torres | Prep Soccer Scout
Awarded as the division’s Most Valuable Player with champions LA Galaxy, Miller was intrumental for the Californian victory in Frisco. His versatility was one of his main assets and he played mulitiple positions with the Galaxy, but was in absolute excellent form when I watched him in action at right back against NYCFC. Miller is very skilled on the ball and is very aggressive in possession, always pushing forward and going at opponents. He is very talented on the final third, passing, crossing and finishing at a high level, and also works very hard on defense, using his athleticism and his anticipation to win balls.

Miller has made the biggest jump in his development this season, out of anyone in the rankings. He has figured out the type of player that he is and excelled in that role. Miller is a winger (or perhaps a wing back in a very desperate pinch). As long as I’ve seen him play, he has been in that position, but he has gained a ton of tactical nuance in recent months – he understands his responsibilities within the team. Miller is a fleet-footed winger who likes to go at defenders. He has improved on using both feet to find success in dribbling duels on the wing – his quick switch from his right to left foot with the ball under him has caught a number of defenders on their heels. He is still a little impatient on the wing and will force things at time, but it’s the risk you are willing to live with as he continues to grow. Miller has that little bit extra in the final third, which makes him incredibly valuable to LA Galaxy Academy. He has provided some goals in key moments this season. The right winger is one to watch in 2023 as he looks to make the next jump up in his development – and perhaps earn a look against even older competition.

Miller is a fascinating prospect. He was originally on the watch list for this class, but his play over the last few weeks at the MLS Next level really made a statement that was too difficult to ignore. Miller is playing at a level right now that makes this ranking already feel too low. His initial scouting report focused on him as a jittery winger with quick feet, decent pressing, and has some good instincts as a goal-scorer. At the U17 level, Miller has shown quality on the ball to play in tight space, a natural instinct around the box that has shown some elite poacher’s instinct, and a fierce competitive drive to continual improve his game. Playing up an age group, Miller is looking like one of the top prospects on LA Galaxy’s fiery U17 team.
