About Isabella

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

In 2023, at age 14, I was first called-up to the Panama National U17 team, with 4 caps and 3 starts, including the CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers in Toluca, MX in Feb of 2024. In November of 2024 I competed with the Panama National U16 team in the UNCAF FIFA Forward Tournament in Nicaragua, with 4 caps and 3 starts. At home I am a “trapped” player for David Legac09 ECNL and in the PDP State pool.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Playing for Panama has taught me adaptability, discipline, and maturity. Competing mostly with older players has helped me stay composed under pressure and develop leadership skills. Because I am often away for international play, I have learned to be self-driven and manage my studies independently while maintaining strong grades and a consistent training schedule, even after missing 101 classes.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am currently part of my school’s leadership program, where I help organize student activities and represent my classmates in various school events. Outside of school, I am an active volunteer with Canine Companions, an organization that is especially meaningful to me for the work it does in providing service dogs to people with disabilities. Most recently, I was honored with a Catholicism Award.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I like to lead by example and put in work every day, both on and off the field. My favourite position is "on the field". I have strong 1v1 skills and attacking skills. As an outside back, I am able to join the attack, but quickly get back to defend. As a wing, I am able to quickly get back to help defend and then make the run on the attack.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

My experience with the Panama National U17 team demonstrates my ability to overcome language, climate and different play styles. My coaches have said that I am the only international player who has assimilated with the team. In 2024 I was away from home for 1 month while I traveled to Panama, Costa Rica, back to Panama and then Mexico. I maintained a 4.0 GPA, while taking an independent study.

What type of college are you looking for?

My goal is to play Division 1 soccer. Academics are equally important to me, and I strive for excellence in both my studies and on the soccer field. Ultimately, I aim to play professionally after college. I am committed and loyal, having stayed with my ECNL team through both highs and lows. My experiences with my ECNL team, PDP, and the Panama National U17 team have prepared me for the next level.

She is a top-tier LCB in the class of 2028. Izzy was a starter and a big part of the Cardinal Newman championship run for the North Coast Division 2 championship. I picked the Cardinals as an underdog with the talent and chemistry to win it all. They delivered at every match as they took down the top 4 ranked teams in the tournament. It was great to evaluate her during her team’s match at the national playoffs. Seeing her on a new club team ( Davis Legacy ) was a treat. As a U-17 member of the Panama national team, she will have to wait until opportunities present themselves, but I’m definitely looking forward to seeing her playing at other top-level events and contributing to future success with the Cardinals.
