About James
Expert Analysis
James Clark | Prep Soccer Scout
Arteaga impressed in both the U16 and U17 semi-finals, showing a capability with the ball at his foot that rivaled the best at the MLS Next tournament. He consistently found his teammates as outlets and combined with them in the attacking third to create shooting opportunities and scores for LAFC, and was even able to find the net himself. There’s much more to be seen from this young man as he continues to progress as a player.

Arteaga shown out once again for LAFC, providing a wonder strike ten minutes in that stunned the Charlotte goalkeeper and backline. Cutting in from the wing, Arteaga took two touches before uncorking a knuckling blast that skimmed the near post and bulged the back of the net. He was routinely an effective part of LA’s attack and provided many crucial combinations and 1v1 chances to have a large effect on the match as a whole.

Read EvaluationMatt Smith | Prep Soccer Scout
Arteaga is a talented left-footed player who can play as a wide midfielder or a No. 11. He is tall and lean, and very graceful with the ball at his feet. He is quick and nimble, making defenders miss and he’s excellent about pushing up the left side and occupying space when the moment calls for it. He has a powerful shot, but is unselfish as well.
