Maroney has a division 1 athletic profile. She is a fluid mover and has a high competitive motor. Her aerial dominance is very easy to notice on film she not only has a height advantage over most players but she has excellent timing on her jumps. She will be able to not only match the physicality of this league but actually deliver some punishment to opposition.

Maroney is a center back from Slammers FC 09. She was a star for her club during the summer club events last year. She’s been even better in 2025/2026. Her play for Edison earned a spot on the OC Register All-Orange County Second Team. She’s a five-foot-11, right footed defender who can do it all. She’s fiercely competitive and thrives in any environment that presents her with a challenge. Maroney gave up volleyball last year to focus on soccer, which has made her a more complete player at center back. She is a two-way impact player who is among the best individual defenders and strikes the bal so well that she takes free kicks (for both club and high school). She is likely going to be a top recruit for many coaches as she offers a lot of intangibles that are pretty rare even from the talent-rich area of Southern California.

Maroney was outstanding at center back. The Slammers star and her fellow defenders only allowed one goal in three games during the playoffs. She was a two-way player. She served as the target for set pieces and long throw-ins for her side. She is athletic and wins aerial duels. She’s physical and wins challenges with good technique. Maroney is a talent to watch from the 2028 class. Dyllan Harris, Cameron Ainslie Cameron Ainslie F/D CA , and Sydney Boik Sydney Boik 5'7" | M Los Alamitos | 2027 State CA were also standouts for Slammers.

Maroney, perhaps, should have been on the standout defenders list as well. She was outstanding for Slammers. Maroney’s play on the cross and handling of long clearances showed her quality in the aerial duel. Her height and athleticism certainly give her an advantage, but her understanding of the flight of the ball and anticipation set her apart. Maroney was excellent in all facets. I thought he distribution was among the best from the center backs at the event.
