How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
As a goalkeeper, I would describe by gameplay style as being very bold with saves and with distribution. I like to be very aggressive, come out of my box, go for the long punt or long kick, and just show how much I pride myself on the fearless factor of my position. I work a lot on clean collection of the ball, great distribution, and always being an option for the backline.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
Over the years, I have worked a lot on my mentality as a goalkeeper. I watch film, but I never research the players on the opposing team because I want my mentality to be very open and confident no matter who I am playing against. I am supportive of my teammates, and I pride myself on encouragement of myself as well as my team if something goes wrong.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
I am involved in clubs at my school including band, Key Club, DECA, and I also participate in track and field. My non-sport awards are honor roll, scholar athlete, and induction into the National Honors Society.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
Through soccer, especially as a goalkeeper, I have developed leadership because I am constantly organizing the back line, reading the game, making quick decisions under pressure, and that has all taught me composure as well as accountability. I take pride in being a vocal leader who supports and motivates teammates through direction or encouragement after a hard moment.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
I consider it to be a significant challenge, even though millions of student athletes go through it, but the recruiting process. I have had a dream for a long, long time to play in college, and constantly promoting myself when it is easy to feel overlooked or underestimated makes it easy to doubt myself. It is a challenge to stay persistent, but I know that this is my dream.
What type of college are you looking for?
All I am looking for is a college that is supportive of the player's development and believing of their athletes. It is easy to feel overlooked and underestimated, but it is so easy to not feel that way when supported by others. Yes, I want it to be a good school and a good program, but what I really long for is a coach that trusts in my abilities... whether that is division 1, 2, or 3.
