About Josslyn

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I organize the back line, win in the air, defend 1v1 in space, and build out under pressure. I read the game early, stay composed on the ball, and play forward when the moment is right. Vocal, aggressive, and always in the right spot. 3-year ECNL starter for PDA Blue. Back-to-back ECNL Playoffs qualifier. U17 Philippine WNT invite. Penn Relays 4x100m — recovery speed most CBs don't have.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Tenacious, calm, and tactical — always learning, always competing. I want to make everyone around me better and more confident. On the field I'm vocal, aggressive in how I defend, and composed when we build out of pressure. Off the field, same standard — 4.0 GPA, three varsity sports, dual enrollment, and a job. I don't take shortcuts and I don't wait.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Women of STEM, Student Movement Against Cancer (SMAC), and Asian Student Association at Somerville HS. First Year Honors Award — all four marking periods. Sophomore Honor Roll. Enrolled in Somerville Academy of Liberal Arts dual enrollment with RVCC — graduating with 60 college credits.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I've developed a sense of community service and giving back — I volunteer at youth camps and fundraise for my team. Playing CB in the ECNL demands leadership — I organize the line, call shifts, and keep everyone connected. Varsity basketball and track build teamwork and toughness that carries to the Philippine WNT ID Camp and NJ Premier Select in the Netherlands.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Center back can be an unforgiving position on the field - a mistake can mean a goal. That constant pressure has built mental toughness and composure that I carry everywhere. Balancing three varsity sports, a 4.0 GPA in dual enrollment honors, ECNL travel, and Philippine WNT ID Camp rigor takes real discipline. I don't see any of it as a burden — it's what drives me.

What type of college are you looking for?

A D1 program where I can compete immediately as a ball-playing center back and develop under a coaching staff that values defenders who organize and build out of the back. Academics matter just as much — I want to be challenged in the classroom the way I am on the field. Fit with the staff, style of play, and campus culture matter most to me.

Dugenio is a center back who had an excellent showing during the ECNL playoffs. She was always in the right spot to help her team. She played as the left center back and looked great on the ball. She made some excellent passes. PDA’s exquisite defense is thanks to the balance between the four across the line, but Dugenio’s timely interceptions certainly help set the tone for that group.
