Guilherme Torres | Prep Soccer Scout
Taylor took 17th place among the forwards and shows in 42nd place overall in our Rankings. He’s a key player on Klein Collins’ high school team and integrates the Houston Rangers ‘ U17 team in the MLS Next League. A pacey and dynamic winger, he keeps opposing backlines under pressure with his direct and aggressive game. He plays primarily on the left, and does a good of staying wide to stretch the field and face opponents in 1v1 duels, but can also hurt backlines with diagonal runs in behind. Taylor is very intense with how he plays and managed to keep his level high throughout entire matches.

Taylor was an important outlet for the Rangers in their strategy to hit GFI on the counter. Playing on the left side of their attack, he capitalized very early, making a smart diagonal run to get on the end of a pass and showing great composure in front of the goal to score. The winger used his pace to make other runs out wide and was involved in his team’s best offensive moments, going at defenders in space and either taking the ball to the end line to cross or bringing it inside to finish it. Taylor was also very dangerous when isolated 1v1 out wide and did a great job of timing his runs and remaining onside.

Taylor spent time on both wings and was probably Albion’s most dangerous player against HTX. He displayed great pace and excellent ball control, creating problems for his opponents with his runs and often drawing fouls around the penalty box. Taylor was probably the most dangerous when playing on the left, where he could bring the ball inside and make diagonal runs into the penalty box. In one of these plays, he did an excellent job of getting on the end of a long pass, bringing the ball inside and feeding Acosta with an inch-perfect through ball to score Albion’s goal.
