How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
On the soccer field, I am known for my speed, field awareness, and leadership skills. In 1-v-1 defensive situations, I consistently win the ball or block an offensive attack. My speed enables me to beat multiple players down the line as I drive to goal or deliver a well-placed cross. I am known for creating momentum in the game, and my anticipation of the next move.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
I am deeply driven and competitive. I always work hard and play with quality, and I am a leader on the field. For a left-back I have an attack minded mentality that allows me to drive to goal. My speed and quickness allows me to take more offensive risks because I know I can recover.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
I'm vice president of Mu Alpha Theta, President of my Current Events club, STEM ambassadors, STEM advisory, UUMC youth group, and soon NJHS. I have received many academic awards including A honor roll, STEM's annual Leadership and Integrity awards, and State Level awards for my Reflections literary works.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
Being in STEM and having to collaborate on many problem based learning projects I have learned how to effectively lead and communicate when working on a team. I have been a team leader on many successful projects within my school. I also strive to get as many service hours as possible. I volunteer at my church, Meals-on-Wheels, and other places when I get an opportunity.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
Growing up being half Vietnamese has been a challenge I've learned to work through and overcome. I'm not taken seriously as an athlete because of stereotypical reasons and I don't get credit for the effort and knowledge I put into my academics as it is often discredited by my being Asian. However I love proving people wrong on the field and continuing my academic excellence in school.
What type of college are you looking for?
I'm looking for a college that is academically superior as well as athletically competitive. I'm also looking for a college that is in a colder region that gets snow during the winter-time.
