About Malin

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I pride myself on my physical and aggressive style of play, utilizing my size and speed to create space and passing lanes to distribute the ball forward.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am a highly competitive playing with a work-ethic to match. My goal has always been to get 1% better every day, as a student and athlete. I was cut from a team at a very early age and that moment created the mindset that I currently operate with: someone is always working to take my spot and my playing time. If I work hard every day, it makes their job that much harder to catch me.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I am involved in FCA and with my local church. I enjoy serving others in the community and giving back when I am able. My parents were both collegiate athletes and serve as strong examples of how to lead from the front and be a great teammate. Those are skills that has stressed to my brother and I at a very young age and something that I work hard at regularly. I try to lead by example first.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

To date with soccer, my biggest challenge was when I was cut from a team. Ii was faced with a crossroad to either stay with the status quo or ask why I needed to work on and then do it. even though it was embarrassing and I was crushed, I asked the coach what I was lacking. I listened and found the coaching that could help me in those areas. I am grateful for them and proud of the work I put in.

What type of college are you looking for?

I have visited several ID camps with colleges of different sizes. I like larger campuses with a larger population. I want to be involved in medicine as a career, so a college with a strong science program and a tie to a good medical school would be ideal.
