Expert Analysis
Guilherme Torres | Prep Soccer Scout
Drygas had a very solid shift playing in the center of FC Dallas ‘ back three. Except for a play in which he lost the timing of the ball and stopped it with his hands, he made no mistakes in central defense, transmitting a lot of confidence to his team. Drygas did good work in possession too, showing patience to move the ball and confidence to attempt long passes when he saw an opportunity, like the one that resulted in the team’s second goal. He was taken off before the Rangers’ comeback, and his absence disorganized FC Dallas ‘ backline.

A center back, Drygas is a key piece in FC Dallas ‘ defensive system. Capable of playing on the right or the left in central defense, he’s extremely efficient and reliable, doing a great job of shutting down opponents who get into his zone. Drygas is physical enough to dominate the penalty box, but is also very smart with his defensive actions, always making the right choices and very rarely being put into a difficult spot. He also plays a big role in the team’s buildup, displaying calm and quality on the ball to connect great passes out of the backline. Drygas has a good presence in the attacking penalty box in set pieces and, every now and then, scores one for FC Dallas .

Drygas is one of FC Dallas ‘ most important defensive players, offering the team great stability from his center back position. He does a great job of protecting the team’s penalty box and his ability to control the peace in the center makes it very difficult for opponents who want to break into their defense through the middle. Drygas also stands out for his positioning and displays impressive mobility when he has to step out of his original position and make defensive plays in wider spots or further up in the field. The defender also has tremendous quality on the ball and is calm and confident when initiating the team’s buildup with intelligent passes.

Drygas anchored FC Dallas’ backline and played a very good match as a right-sided center back. A physical defender, he used his attributes very well to win plays, but also showed good mobility when he had to cover his teammates. Drygas and fellow center back Ninor Olu protected the penalty box very well as FC Dallas allowed two goals from shots from outside of it. He also displayed great quality and calm on the ball, patiently waiting for the best option to connect passes out of the back, ensuring a smooth and efficient buildup.

Drygas is a center back for FC Dallas in MLS Next. He lacks a bit of the accomplishments of his teammates in terms of Youth National Team call-ups, but he should be in that conversation. He’s excellent defensively. Stout in the tackle and sharp in his passing, Drygas is a key part of one of the best defenses at the club level in this age group.
