About Ryan

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

For the last 3 years I've play3e the 9, and occasionally the 10. For the id2 invitational team, I played outside back. For LAFC academy's U18 team I play outside back and wing. I press the back line, and create goal opportunities for my team. I finish equally with my right and left, as well as through headers. I track back on defense, and on all free kicks and corner kicks.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am a positive person, and don't get too affected by game highs or lows. I go into every game believing my team will win, and I will help my team do that. I do not shy away from pressure. I work hard on the pitch and off, and even if my shot is off, I make sure I do other things to impact the game for my teammates and team. Nobody has ever questioned how hard I work on the pitch.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Since my freshman year, I've spent dozens of hours volunteering for different organizations. My favorite involves spending a weekend day with kids with special needs. I love being around children and making their day. I'm a member of the National League of Young Men (LA). I've been a captain of my club soccer team for two years straight.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Many people have faced significant challenges, so I cannot complain. I had a really bad injury after playoffs last year just as I was preparing to do an international trial and to try out of the LAFC academy team. I was in a boot for weeks, and then began a lot of rehab and strength conditioning to get soccer ready. I learned to be patient and committed to the process of recovery.

What type of college are you looking for?

An academically strong school with a good soccer program.
