About Sophia

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I have a calm and composed gameplay style when in possession of the ball. I am determined and tenacious when it comes to defending and winning back possession. Additionally, I consider myself to be creative and enjoy distributing the ball, breaking through lines, and scoring goals.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I would describe my mentality as that of a hard worker. I believe that success comes from putting in the effort. In terms of my personality, I am personable, supportive, loving, and generous. I am always there for others when they need me.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

High Honors in Sophmore year Honor Roll in all academic years

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Growing up as the youngest of six siblings has instilled in me a drive to strive for leadership. I always give my all and go above and beyond in everything I do. But I also do things as a team. In terms of community service, I volunteer at the library reading to younger children.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

In the summer of 2023, I suffered an injury that sidelined me for four months. It was a challenging period, and I had to put in extra effort to catch up with the rest of the team. I worked hard to earn back my position and playing time. It was both challenging and rewarding .

What type of college are you looking for?

I am seeking a college with a positive culture, opportunities for personal growth, and the ability to help me become the best version of myself.

My most recent evaluation was done two weeks ago as her De Anza Force G07/08 took on a tough Mustang SC club with top-level players and D1 college commits on their side.  Sophia’s ability to take charge of the backline and limit her opponents to quality shots on goal are qualities coaches look for in center backs.  Her verbal commands also help outside backs to cover or step into attacking lanes.  I really like her counterattacks, as she can make strong long ball passes into the attacking third or make strong, clean tackles on the defensive side.
