My most recent evaluation was done two weeks ago as her De Anza Force G07/08 took on a tough Mustang SC club with top-level players and D1 college commits on their side. Sophia’s ability to take charge of the backline and limit her opponents to quality shots on goal are qualities coaches look for in center backs. Her verbal commands also help outside backs to cover or step into attacking lanes. I really like her counterattacks, as she can make strong long ball passes into the attacking third or make strong, clean tackles on the defensive side.

Canepa was another standout for De Anza Force, holding the line and providing coverage and stout defensive work to push her side through to the National Finals. She’ll join Nelson and their other teammates in taking on San Diego Surf for a spot in the semifinals.

Canepa is a defender on the De Anza Force 08 ECNL team. She plays left center back for her club team. Canepa is an extremely valuable player for her club team and it’s easy to see how she could be equally as important at the next level. She plays the left center back role for De Anza. She is almost a sweeper at times though. She is often the last line of defense. She is a target on set pieces for her aerial dominance. Canepa has been outstanding this season and should be on the ECNL All-Conference First Team for her play.

Sophia Cabepa plays as a defender for De Anza Force G08. Cabepa is a strong and consistent player. She stays with the back line well and recovers for others well. She is strong into challenges and tracks her marks well. She makes good decisions defensively and with the ball at her feet. Cabepa supports those around her well at good angles and often connects her passes. Overall, Sophia Cabepa is a strong center back for De Anza Force G08. She makes good decisions defensively and doesn’t often make errors in the defensive third.
