About Sophia

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am a fiercely competitive and dynamic player, with an excellent first touch and confidence on the ball. While I love playing Wingback and Central Midfield, I am a versatile player with agility and speed and can seamlessly transition across any position on the field, making an impact wherever I play.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I’m a composed, intelligent player who sees the game one step ahead. I stay calm under pressure, solve problems quickly, and help organize the team. I love to learn how I can improve and enjoy making the players around me better. Off the field, I’m reliable, sarcastic, and studious. I like to finish my school work before practice so I can spend time with my pets (2 dogs, a snake and my fish).

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

• Honor Roll (2022-22026) • Art Club • Dual enrollment at Georgia State University • Certified USYS Referee

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I love to volunteer with animals. When I have free time, I go to the DeKalb Animal Shelter and walk the dogs. My family also fosters puppies from time to time. I also love doing art and have been nominated for the GA Governors Honors Program in Visual Arts.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I was diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia in 4th grade. I had to switch schools to get more help with my reading, but it turned out to be a superpower on the soccer field. I also had short hair growing up until high school. When I switched schools, I was bullied a lot. That has made me really sensitive about being inclusive to new people whenever they join a team.

What type of college are you looking for?

I'm looking for a college with strong academics and a pre-vet program. I would love a school where the student body is also interested in athletics because I enjoy watching all types of sports and appreciate when others come to watch me play too.
