De Guzman is a midfielder on the Mustang 09 ECNL team. She is also part of the PDP State Team. She plays on the Dougherty Valley Varsity Team.
I didn’t catch De Guzman from the games in Phoenix, but she was a bright spot for her team during the previous ECNL National Event in December. She is a skillful dribbler and keeps close control of the ball under pressure. There is a moment from the event in St. Louis when she is fouled multiple times in a 10 second window where almost any other player would’ve stopped playing and just enjoyed the free kick. De Guzman seemed to take a lot of joy in the fact the opponent still couldn’t stop her even though they were grabbing and kicking her.
Mustang SC 09 will be taking part in the Showcase Cup as part of the ECNL postseason. Scouts would be wise to observe the Northern California squad in June.
