FAB 50: Top-ranked teams hold their own
So far, so good for the nation’s top teams.
No. 1 Homestead (Ind.), No. 3 Bearden (Tenn.), and No. 7 Notre Dame (Ky.) girls all completed undefeated seasons with state titles on Saturday to secure spots in the final FAB 50 Top 10 this fall.
On the boys side, top-ranked St. Ignatius (Ohio) and No. 4 New Albany (Ohio) continued to steamroll opponents as they inch toward a playoff showdown.
In total, the girls Top 10 remains unchanged from last week and top nine boys teams last week remain the top nine this week — albeit a few slight moves to take into account ties that were settled in shootouts.
The highest-debuting teams this week are York (Ill.) boys and Avon Lake (Ohio) girls. York checks in at No. 41 as it enters the Supersectional (state quarterfinal) of Illinois’ Class AAA tournament. Avon Lake jumps up to No. 34 as it advanced deeper into the Ohio Division 1 playoffs.
