Regional Rankings: St. Ig, Summit, St. Anthony’s secure No. 1s
Only one week remains in the 2021 fall high school season, and little is left to settle.
The regional No. 1 rankings are locked down in five of seven boys regions and four of seven girls regions.
This past week featured a few postseason surprises that will result in a number of ranking tweaks in Tuesday’s FAB 50. But outside of that, there was not a single change at any of the 14 region No. 1 spots. St. Ignatius (Ohio) and Summit (Ore.) locked down No. 1 regional rankings with state titles over the weekend. For St. Ignatius, the overtime victory over fellow FAB 50-ranked Centerville (Ohio) secured a third straight state title. Summit, although expected to win, laid a surprise 6-0 state final rout on West Linn (Ore.), which entered the match ranked No. 2 in the state behind Summit. St. Anthony’s (N.Y.) was the only girls team to secure a regional No. 1 ranking this past weekend, winning a third straight New York Catholic League crown to finish 20-0 and atop the East rankings.
