This year’s National Elite Prep Showcase was thrown for a loop when two of the nation’s top girls soccer teams had to drop out of the prestigious event in connection with travel issues. Harvard-Westlake (Calif.) and current FAB 50 No. 3 Carondelet (Calif.) were unable to make the trek to Texas for this week’s event. Still, the field is loaded with top teams.
Here are some of Monday’s Day 1 top performers:
D <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="27248" first="Skyleigh" last="Arnold"]</strong>, Boerne Champion (Texas), Jr. -- Key part of a defense that held Plano West to a single goal.
GK <strong>Lilly Bracken</strong>, Bishop Lynch (So.) -- The sophomore played only the second half and posted a clean 40 minutes that included five saves -- three of them on 1v1s.
F <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="26502" first="Audrey" last="Bryant"]</strong>, Ursuline Academy (Texas), Fr. -- Talk about an impact freshman! Bryant netted Ursuline Academy’s first three goals and assisted on the fourth for the nationally ranked program.
D <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="26636" first="Courtlyn" last="Cook"]</strong>, Denton Guyer (Texas), So. -- Controlled the back line, made several 1v1 plays to prevent shots on goal, slowed down their dynamic offense multiple times but stepping to win the ball and the 1v1.
M <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="26916" first="Kennedy" last="Fuller"]</strong>, Southlake Carroll (Texas), Fr. -- Fuller made an impactful varsity debut, scoring a goal and serving up an assist.
F <strong>Brook Hatzman</strong>, Ursuline Academy (Texas), Jr. -- Scored the fourth goal to put the game away, and she held ball very well.
DMF <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="26761" first="Hampton" last="Hohenberger"]</strong>, Nolan Catholic (Texas), So. -- Hohenberger runs the show as a holding midfielder and is always available as a link and a consistent ball winner.
M <strong>Madeleine Landstad</strong>, Denton Guyer (Texas), Sr. -- Dominated the middle of the field in air, won several 50/50 balls.
OB <strong>Elena Rodriguez</strong>, Nolan Catholic (Texas), So. -- Rodriguez is one of Nolan’s most technical players, and her ability to not only defend 1v1 but also gets into the attack as one of Nolan’s most dangerous attacking players.
D <strong>Bailey Romack</strong>, Bishop Lynch (Texas), So. -- She won almost every ball and shut down some of the best forwards in the state.
M <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="27245" first="Sisley" last="Stephens"]</strong>, Denton Guyer (Texas), Sr. -- Scored Guyer’s goal and was a dominant player all over the field. She had several big plays in the middle to slow down the opponent’s attack and even more plays to set up Guyer’s.
D <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="27240" first="Shelby" last="Streicher"]</strong>, Boerne Champion (Texas), Sr. -- Key part of a defense that held Plano West to a single goal.
CD <strong>Bella Tankersley</strong>, Nolan Catholic (Texas), Sr. -- Tankersley is a solid center back who locks down the back keeping everything in front of her, and is so poised with her range of passes to start the attack.
M <strong>Maddie Tiffany</strong>, Ursuline Academy (Texas), Jr. -- Served up two assists in a strong team showing.
M <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="26607" first="Carys" last="Torgesen"]</strong>, Marcus (Texas), Jr. -- Torgesen had a goal and two assists to pace Marcus’ offense.
M <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="26337" first="Kenzi" last="Tufts"]</strong>, Southlake Carroll (Texas), So. -- Kicked off the season with a goal and one assist in Carroll’s win over fellow FAB 50-ranked Hockaday.
F <strong>Reneta Vargas</strong>, Coppell (Texas), Sr. -- The UT-Rio Grande Valley signee scored both of Coppell’s goals in a win over Bishop Lynch.
