Regional Rankings: Servite, Dripping Springs are on the move
While Texas and Hawaii are early in their seasons, it’s playoff time in Florida and Mississippi already.
This week’s regional rankings feature two significant changes — but otherwise, are largely status quo as we enter the stretch run for the 2021-2022 winter season.
Dripping Springs (Texas) takes over the Texas-South girls rankings this week, powered by a 7-0 start that includes a win over Lake Travis. Lake Travis sits at No. 2 in the region and has wins over perennial Texas-South frontrunner Seven Lakes and Texas-North power Southlake Carroll. Lake Travis also has a draw with highly ranked Coppell. The transitive property approach makes a strong case for Dripping Springs at No. 1 in the region and ranked among the nation’s elite.
In boys soccer, Servite (Calif.) returns to the spot where it started — No. 1 in California-South. Former top-ranked Torrey Pines (Calif.), which was No. 1 in the state, region, and FAB 50 rankings, lost a pair of matches last week to tumble.
A few housekeeping notes, some win-loss records were scrubbed this week for state consistency. In California, most sections follow a guideline where all shootout results count as ties. By contrast, Florida has counted PK results as wins/losses. Therefore, to come into line with those guidelines, several records were updated this week.
Check out the regional rankings below. The FAB 50 national rankings are updated each Tuesday.
