Winter FAB 50: Boys rankings undergo massive overhaul

The California and Florida boys playoffs were full of surprises last week and the result was a near-complete reshuffling of the boys FAB 50.

No. 1 Eastlake (Texas) and No. 2 Tampa Prep (Fla.) were the only teams that held their positions. In addition, there are 15 new teams in this week’s rankings, led by Ransom Everglades (Fla.), which checks in at No. 30. After this week’s state finals in Arizona, Florida, and Hawaii, along with several section titles in California, the rankings should settle back into a normal pattern with teams inching up in the future, not major leaps as experienced this week.

The girls rankings also saw quite a bit of change in order, but 43 of the 50 teams were in the rankings last week. Prosper (Texas) remains No. 1, but it did so by surviving two PK results over other Top 25 teams in the first of two meetings with those squads. California teams are lined up to inherit the No. 1 spot should Prosper falter, and that group starts with No. 2 Temecula Valley (Calif.), followed by Corona Santiago (Calif.), Dripping Springs (Texas) and Mountain View (Calif.), rounding out the Top 5.
