Get ready for the playoff run!
Mississippi crowns its state champions this weekend. Florida wraps up district play and moves into the regionals. Louisiana starts postseason play this week. Arizona and California are finishing up regular season play over the next week.
Simply put, it's an exciting time as several of the nationally ranked teams are on track for head-to-head showdowns.
To put the spotlight on Mississippi this week, Northwest Rankin (Miss.) boys, currently No. 7 in the FAB 50, are two wins away from securing a final Top 10 ranking. With a state title, it is likely that this squad will earn the highest-ever FAB 50 ranking for a Mississippi boys team in the 22-year history of the rankings. Gulfport (Miss.) girls were cruising through the season before an upset loss to Northwest Rankin girls in the state quarterfinals. That result moves the Northwest Rankin girls team into the FAB 50, as well, and puts the school in a position to sweep the 6A state titles.
In the bigger picture, El Paso Eastlake (Texas) boys and Prosper (Texas) girls remain in the No. 1 spots of their respective rankings.
