We go heavy on California and Texas in this week’s updates:
D/W Meighan Ferrel, Northgate (Calif.), Sr., Arizona State
Fast and technical, Ferrel is a handful. Unfortunately, Northgate has struggled in the results column this season, which might prevent this four-year starter from going out with a playoff appearance.
D [player_tooltip player_id="38594" first="Sami" last="Kolin"], Campolindo (Calif.), Sr., CSU Northridge
Kolin can be found in several places on the field, but she might be best in the defense. She has scored five goals to help Campolindo to a 9-1-4 start this season.
F [player_tooltip player_id="29273" first="Natalie" last="Means"], Acalanes, Sr., Georgetown
The Georgetown commit is tearing it up -- averaging nearly two goals as match as Acalanes is off to a 13-1 start. The team has a chance to avenge its only defeat this week, and if so, a regional ranking is likely to follow.
F [player_tooltip player_id="27341" first="Zoe" last="Main"], Ridge Point (Texas), Jr., Oklahoma
Ridge Point has put up solid records in recent years, but this year’s squad might have the players to make a serious playoff run, led by this junior standout. Main, who has committed to Oklahoma, was the I-10 MVP and factored in eight goals early in district play.
F [player_tooltip player_id="27008" first="Mabry" last="Williams"], San Antonio Johnson (Texas), So.
A member of the U.S. Under-16 National Team player pool, Williams is one of the most exciting players to watch. On the high school scene, she simply dominates with her skill and powerful finishes. She started the season with three hat tricks and has helped San Antonio Johnson to a solid start to the season with a clash against rival and nationally ranked San Antonio Reagan coming up this week.
