These players were standouts for their respective teams and helped lead their teams to success at the event.
GK Patrick McLaughlin Patrick McLaughlin GK St. Ignatius (OH) | 2023 State OH , FC Evolution (OH) – McLaughlin benefitted from having an organized, smart defense in front of him, but he did a lot of the work to set them up. He gave clear vocal commands and kept his team in the right shape to stop any counter.
D Isaiah Martinez, Downtown Las Vegas 07 (NV) – Martinez is an exciting prospect at center back. He is a ball-winner with a solid technical base. He had interest from MLS academies in the past and will likely be a player for interest after his performance this weekend in the National League Showcase.
D Dylan Freebury, LA Surf 07 (CA) – Freebury is a dominant force on the field. He will run through the opposition to get to the ball. He is a good athlete and going to be a player to watch at the prep level for the next few years.
D Quentin Gomez, LVSA 05 (NV) – Gomez came into the event with a pedigree after his success at the club and school level. He lived up to the expectations with a solid performance for LVSA, which went 3-0 at the event.
D Luke Fiscus, Arsenal FC of Pittsburgh 06 (PA) – Fiscus impressed with his play on the opening day. The center back had good moments on the ball and offered something in the attack for his side with his distribution.
M Hudson Scheiber, SC Wave 06 (WI) – Scheiber was the best midfielder of the weekend. He was clever on the ball and a workhorse defensively. He has the qualities that college coaches search for from a No. 8 at the next level.
M Winston Starr, New Mexico SA 08 (NM) – Starr was an easy talent to spot. He commanding the attention of the opposition with his strong approach to the center midfield position. He hit with a hammer – both in the tackle and in the pass.
M Dane Valenti, Downtown Las Vegas 07B (NV) – Valenti was terrific in the game on Sunday. He did everything right and did not lose possession of the ball. He offered creativity in the attack. He’s an artist with the ball and difficult to shutdown.
M Willem van Beelen, VSA Centurions 07B (PA) – van Beelen
F Ty Collins, Azzurri Storm 07 (FL) – Considering his team’s success, Collins was the player of the weekend. When his team needed a goal, he delivered. He had that extra gear that elite players seem to possess and he knew when to tap into it to make the biggest difference in the game.
F Aidan Boehmer Aidan Boehmer F Olathe East | 2024 KS , KC Fusion Academy 06 (KS) – Boehmer is a center forward who stood out for his play in the National Showcase games. He made smart runs off the ball to create space and took advantage of his opportunities.
F Zsombor Onodi Zsombor Onodi F St. Ignatius (OH) | 2023 State OH , FC Evolution 05 (OH) – Onodi was one of the most skillful players at the event. He scored a spectacular goal on Monday. He juggled the ball past a pair of defenders before hitting a smashing volley into the goal.
