The Girls Academy event in North Carolina kicks off on Thursday with the U19 age group in action. The U17 through U15 age groups follow in successive days as all four age groups are taking part in the competition at Bryan Park Soccer Complex over the weekend.

With so many players from some of the top clubs across the country in attendance, there are college coaches from every level scheduled to attend the event. For players in the 2023, this is an especially important showcase as coaches look to finalize their commitments for that recruiting class before moving onto the 2024 group in the near future.

Even though many of the top recruits from the class have already given their verbal commitments, there are still plenty of difference-makers left out there for college coaches willing to look. PrepSoccer gives the scouting report on five uncommitted 2023 players from the Girls Academy event worth keeping an eye on heading into the weekend.

Stella Keating, Michigan Jaguars 03/04 - Keating is the only 2023 uncommitted prospect on the Jaguars side. She is an outside back who is usually on the right. She has the wheels to fly into the attack. She is capable of whipping in a good cross with some pace behind it. She will be one of the top outside backs to watch at the event for college coaches in search of depth at that position from the 2023 class. Jaguars were placed in Bracket A with games against South Shore Select, PA Classics, and Houston Dash.

Sophie Stanley, LA Surf 05 - LA Surf makes the cross-country trek for the event, and there will be plenty of eyes on the leaders from the Southwest Conference in this age group. [player_tooltip player_id="18935" first="Megan" last="Santa Cruz"] is the player who typically attracts the most attention on this team, and deservedly so for the Washington State commit. Santa Cruz scored two goals in the final game for LA Surf before this event. Stanley, her striker partner, also scored in that game. Stanley’s been in great form this season. The uncommitted 2023 forward seems set on joining a program in her home-state, but the experience in North Carolina could open her eyes to other options.

Nicole Choren, Broomfield 05 - Choren is a right-footed center back who likes to play as the last defender for her side. She is strong in the tackle and moves her feet well to get her body behind a challenge. She would be a good fit for a program looking for a right center back with decent pace.

[player_tooltip player_id="32996" first="Mira" last="Issar"], FC United 05 - Issar is a top goalkeeper prospect from Illinois. She is 5-8 with good athleticism as she can cover the net with her shot stopping prowess. Her passing is exceptional for the position and is one of the top players in the GA in terms of completion percentage. Outside back Grace Back is another player to know from the FC United 05 squad. FC United takes on San Francisco Elite on Friday.

Katie Morris, Clovis Crossfire 05 - Morris had a standout campaign at the high school level this winter. She was named the 2022 TRAC Co-Defensive Player of the Year. She plays right back for her club side. She is comfortable on the ball and likes to look at springing one of her teammates behind the opposition. She has a quick first step and closes ground quickly. She would be a good fit for a program looking for depth at outside back that puts priority on duels and recovery speed.
