Marin FC were also NorCal State Cup semifinalists during the winter, having good success in multiple competitions. The team, with a combination of possessing the ball and relying on the counterattack when needed, plays fourth place Davis Legacy on Saturday, April 23, with a chance to solidify their spot in the standings, and possibly make a charge for the top four.
There are several players that Marin County high school coaches, and college recruiters, should be excited to see come from the Marin FC 2009 ranks, and here are seven players to keep an eye on.
Tatum D’Angelica, Central Forward
D’Angelica is a very skillful, technically sound player who has developed quite a lot over the last year and become a key component in the team’s attack. She has turned into the team’s best goal scorer. She’s very good on the ball, very good with her back to the ball and can create to score from that position.
Remi David, Central Defender
David is a very tall and strong defender who is a great ball-winner. She is a very key part to the defense. She is great with covering areas while transitioning defensively and has come a long way in improving her distribution out of the back.
Blythe DeGooyer, Outside Back
DeGooyer is a left-footed outside back who plays on the left side, and is a classic attacking outside back. She loves to get up the pitch and is very attack-minded. She offers great service on crosses, but is also a very good defender and good when tracking back defensively.
Maya Maxson, Central Midfielder
Maxson is the kind midfielder who flies around the pitch with reckless abandon. She’s a born ball-winner, who is very creative when she’s on the ball. She’s a very tricky player who pulls out moves that defenders don’t expect. Maxson plays a very key role in this team’s midfield.
Addison Ryba, Forward
Ryba plays on the left wing and is a player with speed and great endurance. She will keep running and running at you. She’s a very good 1v1 player. She has a confidence that is not normally shown at this age. She’s also very relentless, shows an amazing work rate and because of this she is involved in a lot of the team’s goals and assists.
Nora Snearly, Attacking Midfielder
Snearly is the attacking midfielder that makes this 2009 Blue team tick. She is very creative, good on the ball and connects the attack very well when in possession. She is a left-footed midfielder, which brings a different aspect to the attack. She is a very smart player who sees the field and makes good decisions.
Anya Sridharan, Forward
Sridharan plays opposite of Ryba up top, playing on the right side. She has come on strong the last few months and has been getting more and more involved in the team’s scoring. She is a very athletic player who is very good at making runs from behind the defense. She’s also improving quite a lot in the 1v1 phase of her game.
