BOYDS, Md. -- The MLS Next Flex event at the Maryland SoccerPlex drew to a close Monday for the U16s. Here are six Class of 2025 players on U16 squads who caught the eye of scouts at the event:
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><strong>F William Altirs, Cedar Stars Academy-Bergen</strong> — A team captain, Altirs showed his leadership ability by demanding to take — and converting — a penalty shot that he earned when his cross was handled by a defender. </span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><strong>M Casey Bag, New York SC</strong> — Bag was good at running at defenses and laying it off for teammates.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><strong>F Zain Elder, Michigan Wolves</strong> — Worked well in tight spaces in order to create chances for himself.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><strong>F Oscar Manzanarez, Lamorinda SC</strong> — Made strong runs at defenders from his wing position. He also stayed with the play and created assists. </span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><strong>F Alan Ramirez, Queen City</strong> — Ramirez showed exceptional footwork in tight spaces to create chances for himself. When he wasn’t able to shake the defender, he usually drew a foul.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><strong>D Brenden Tuey, Lamorinda SC</strong> — Great recovery speed. He was a solid 1v1 defender who stepped up and broke up attacks.</span></p>
