Big Opportunity for 2024s at GA Mid America Talent ID

The Girls Academy League hosted a Talent Identification event for the Mid-America on Wednesday. The event featured the best players from Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania from the 2005 through 2008 age groups. With June 15 only one week away, the timing of the event could not have been more perfect for the players in the class of 2024. Next Wednesday, college coaches can initiate recruiting contact with players from the class of 2024. College coaches were well aware of the significance of getting a look at some of the top players in the region before the opening of the recruitment period. Over fifty college coaches were in attendance on Wednesday as they saw some of the top talent compete against each other in the training and the games. The attacking talent played as a center forward for the U.S. U17 Women's National Team, which was a new look for her and she did exceptionally well against international talent. Villarreal is the type of blue-chip recruit to build a program around, which should make her commitment one of the most anticipated this summer. She is excellent in every facet of the game, but her strength in tracking crosses and collecting the ball in the air really sets her apart from her peers. O'Malley has a high ceiling with a strong technical base for the position. She was rated as one of the top 50 players in her age group in the Girls Academy by Instat for this season. She plays as a left center back for her club team. She is a top option for a program looking to play a possession-dominant style. Berry is well-coached and makes good decisions on the ball. She is a good tackler when needed and can hold off attacking players using her strength. She is an impact player on the field. She is also versatile as a player as she can be an exceptional center back when needed. However, her skill and passing are probably best suited in a defensive center midfield role.
