College coaches are allowed to initiate contact with Class of 2024 prospects starting June 15, and several girls players in Northern California are on the radar for college recruiters. The landscape is rich with talent and between now and signing day, dozens of girls from the Bay Area and surrounding areas will be making their decisions. Sophia Alberga, Forward Alberga can play as a center forward or a lone striker, but is probably better off as a wing. She is a fast player, with a lot of quality and prowess going forward and finishing. She is very clinical in front of goal, with the speed to get behind the defense. She plays her club soccer at Bay Oaks and high school at Berkeley, where she will be a dangerous weapon as a junior after missing he sophomore season. Colette Boyden, Midfielder Boyden, who plays her club with Marin FC and plays high school at Redwood, is a very technically gifted player who can play anywhere in the midfield. She is a smooth, left-footed player who is able to connect passes very well and is excellent about facilitating play in the midfield. [player_tooltip player_id="19360" first="Emily" last="Chang"], Outside Defender Chang, who plays on the left side, is an incredibly smart and tactical player. She picks her spots well in getting forward and working herself into the attack on an overlapping run. She serves a great ball on a cross into the box. Defensively, she’s a very aggressive in tracking down her wing player and closing her space. She forces the attacking player to make a decision, and if that player comes at her 1v1, she limits the space. Chang, a great teammate no matter the team, plays at Mountain View High and plays for the MVLA 06 Roma team. Katya Davis, Center Forward Davis should receive some notice despite not playing club and only playing soccer during the high school season at University High. She is a very tall striker who is good in the air and with the ball at her feet, scoring a team-leading 19 goals. She is a star athlete no matter the sport she plays and recruiters should notice her ability. Alexandra Freeman, Forward/Midfielder Freeman played varsity as a freshman at Berkeley High, but missed her sophomore season with an ACL injury. She is a technical player with a powerful shot. As a forward or a midfielder, she can create space for herself and set up her teammates. She plays club with Mavericks. Erin Freeman, Forward/Midfielder Freeman is the twin-sister of the above-mentioned Alexandra Freeman (both are sisters of former Berkeley star keeper Leah Freeman, who is a star at the University of Oregon) and she also plays at Mavericks for club. What’s more is that just like her sister, she missed her sophomore season with an ACL injury. Erin also missed her freshman year. She is so technical and creative and can find ways to craft a goal for her team. She is dangerous when on the pitch, setting her teammates up or scoring herself. Brittney Hahn, Central Defender Hahn is a commanding central defensive player, who plays high school with Granada High and her club at West Coast, is a very tall player who uses her height to her advantage. She is a very strong player. Gabrielle Hoebrichts, Central Defender Hoebricths will receive plenty of college interest as she is a standout defender. She is a great 1v1 defender, in particular in open space when along with an attacking player. During the high school season, where she plays at Tamalpais, her team only allowed three goals when she was on the pitch. She is a stand out player for the Marin FC 2006 Blue team. Willa Hooven, Central Defender Hooven will be a standout defender for Berkeley High and is already a standout at Bay Oaks. She is as physical as they come. She has a tenacious work ethic, and is not fun for any forward attacking player to go against 1v1. After missing her sophomore season at Berkeley, she is going to be a big contributor and should be recruited heavily. [player_tooltip player_id="19497" first="Imogen" last="Jenkyn"], Forward Jenkyn, who plays her club soccer at Mustang FC, is a player who should get plenty of notice this year whether it’s playing club or playing for Marin Academy. She is incredibly fast on the outside, and uses her speed and creativity to get by defenders, and create scoring opportunities, whether she’s driving into the box or whipping in a cross. Dakota Ledesma, Forward Ledesma joins Boyden at Marin FC and at Redwood High, and she is also a left-footed player. She plays on the outside on the left side. She is a physically imposing player, who is great at creating space and whipping dangerous balls into the box. Maren Jones, Attacking Midfielder The Tamalpais High standout is also an excellent player for the Marin FC 2006 Blue team. She is a dynamic attacking player who can not only play as an attacking mid, but as a striker. She is very skilled and quick and should receive a lot of college attention. [player_tooltip player_id="19154" first="Ava" last="Mathieson"], Outside Back Mathieson plays her club soccer at Mustang and plays high school at Las Lomas. She is an outstanding left back because she is very, very fast. She will terrorize people trying to match up with her on the outside, whether she is defending or blowing up the outside as an attacking threat. June McNally, Midfielder McNalley can play as a holding mid or an attacking mid but will probably settle in as the No. 8 for Berkeley High. She plays club at Bay Oaks as well. She is a crafty midfielder with a cannon for a shot. She is a player that works hard and is not afraid to mix it up on the midfield. She uses both feet very well, and finishes when the opportunity presents itself. Isabella Ong, Forward/Midfielder Ong plays her club soccer at PSV Union and her high school soccer at University High in San Francisco. She mostly plays on the wing, but can also play the No. 10 spot. She is a very dynamic player who can score or set her teammates up, scoring 19 goals and handing out 16 assists during the season. She takes on defenders and beats them with regularity, and when she draws attention from defenders she sets her teammates up. She is very, very dangerous with the ball at her feet. Siena Quierolo, Forward Quierolo is a tremendous attacking player, whose free kicks are a thing of legend. She was responsible for both Granada goals in the NCS playoffs on corner kicks. She plays her club soccer with Pleasanton Rage. Karen Shah, Striker Shah plays at Mountain View High and on the MVLA 06 Roma team with Chang, and is an incredibly tough player. The kind of player that you would only be half-joking if you said she’d run through a brick wall if it meant making a play for her team. She is pure hustle all over the field. She is naturally a wide player, but played the No. 9 for Mountain View this past season and is incredibly physical, allowing her to hold up play and then she is smart enough and quick enough to penetrate after checking the ball back. She is savvy, can shoot with both feet, create a shot from anywhere and is great at scoring in the air. Kyleigh Sekulich, Attacking Midfielder Sekulich, who plays her high school soccer with Las Lomas and her club with Walnut Creek Surf, is a very versatile player as she can play as a target striker or out on the wing as well. She is very technical, very creative and she sees the game extremely well. [player_tooltip player_id="19402" first="Eva" last="Torrico"], Defensive Midfielder Torrico is a top-notch defensive midfielder, the kind every team can use. She stands out because she is a great link between the midfield and the back line. She demonstrates good foot skills, good physicality and good speed. She plays high school soccer at Livermore High and club with Mustang FC. Autumn Walston, Attacking Midfielder Walston, who plays her high school soccer at Granada High and her club at Pleasanton Rage. She is a very fast attacking player who can break down a defense, create for herself or for her teammates.
