Today, we check out the leading girls goalkeepers candidates for fall-playing states. There will be additional players added to the Watch List in the upcoming weeks. From match observation, 2021 PrepSoccer.com accolades and coach recommendations, here are some names to know:
TOP ALL-AMERICA CANDIDATES
(in alphabetical order with high school, year in school, college commitment – if any)
Sophie Dawe, Houston (Tenn.), Sr., Kansas
Dawe helped Houston to a state runner-up performance in 2021 and the team is off to an undefeated start in 2022. There are two outstanding senior keepers in Memphis this fall between Dawe and Milan Carroll.
Bayliss Flynn, Edina (Minn.), Sr., Montana
The first high school player to sign a NIL deal in Minnesota, Flynn was an all-metro and all-state performer last year. She allowed only seven goals last season as Edina rolled up a 20-1 season and placed third at the state tournament.
Jordan Hecht, Rosemount (Minn.), Sr., Army
Hecht will compete with Flynn for top honors among Minnesota goalkeepers this fall. Hecht allowed only 10 goals in 22 matches in 2021 as Rosemount placed fourth at the state tournament, losing in the semifinals and again to Edina in the consolation match to finish 19-3.
Sophie Hills, Boise (Idaho), Sr., Portland
It was a bit of an odd season for Boise, winning games but giving up goals in 2021. Still, the team reached the state final. Hills is one of the key holdovers and at various times turned in big performances last season. She strung together a four-match shutout streak at one point and then had shutouts in four of six matches during another winning surge.
Allie Lammers Allie Lammers GK Mount Notre Dame (OH) | 2024 OH , Mount Notre Dame (Ohio), Jr.
Lammers was one of many key pieces in last year’s Mount Notre Dame state title-winning team. She was part of 17 shutouts and earned first-team Cincinnati Enquirer Division I honors in 2021. Lammers was key down the stretch, surrendering only two goals in the team’s final 13 matches.
Elyse Munoz Elyse Munoz GK Ward Melville (NY) | 2023 NY , Ward Melville (N.Y.), Sr.
The two-time Newsday All-Area selection who plays club for SUSA returns following a season where she recorded more than 100 saves during Ward Melville’s 13-2-3 in 2021. At one point, she strung together six straight shutout victories.
Maya Naimoli Maya Naimoli GK Episcopal Academy (PA) | 2023 State PA , Episcopal Academy (Pa.), Sr., Ohio State
After spending the early part of her high school career on the field, this elite club keeper moved to the net last year and delivered an All-Delco first-team season.
Kate Phillips Kate Phillips GK Indianapolis Cathedral (IN) | 2023 State IN , Cathedral (Ind.), Sr., Missouri
Phillips guided Cathedral to a 12-2-6 showing in 2021 and the team is off to another solid start in 2022. An all-state honoree, Phillips sported an 0.65 GAA last season.
Olivia Shippee, Monroe-Woodbury (N.Y.), Sr., Boston College
Shippee might be the most athletic of the All-America Watch List keepers. In addition to being a major college soccer prospect, she’s also a standout basketball player at Monroe-Woodbury. With Shippee in net, Monroe-Woodbury returns to its familiar pre-COVID status as New York Class AA state title contender.
Eliza Teplow, Noble and Greenough (Mass.), Sr., Northeastern
A two-time Prep Player to Watch, Teplow is the top goalkeeper prospect in NEPSAC — a collection of New England prep schools. She was a second-team All-New England selection last year.
