The 2025 class in North Carolina can be overshadowed in some regards in comparison to the 2024 class, which features numerous players on the current U.S. U17 Women’s National Team World Cup roster.
The sophomores still have plenty to brag about including a couple of players who made All-State list as freshmen last season.

Jaida McGrew Jaida McGrew 5’8″ | F Providence Day | 2025 State #151 Nation NC arguably has the highest ceiling of any player in North Carolina from the sophomore class. McGrew is a forward with game-breaking ability. She has elite pace and good finishing instincts. She anticipates well and punishes teams in the transition aspect of the game. She has the potential to be an immediate contributor at an ACC program.
Highlights
Blane McElroy Blane McElroy M State NC is a brilliant attacking talent. She is truly a two-footed player. She is a good finisher with either foot from pretty much any angle. The ability to cut onto either foot makes her a tough mark, especially considering she is usually running downhill from an attacking midfield spot. The ECNL All-Conference playmaker was outstanding at the high school level last season with Providence Day High School.
Grayson Williams Grayson Williams M State #191 Nation NC is another center midfielder with playmaking abilities. She has a good first touch and excellent vision. She is a great distributor and does well in connecting the lines for her side. She reads the game well and anticipates when to step into a passing lane. With her two-way qualities, she is one of the top center midfielders in the state.
Mona Childs Mona Childs F State NC is a player who could quickly climb the rankings this season. There is a lot of reason to believe the 2022/2023 could be a breakout campaign for Childs. She is a winger with speed – like one of the fastest players in the state. She likes to play very wide with a decent gap from the outside back. She has the skill to take the player to the end line, but also the versatility to cut in and finish with a bending effort. Childs is a player to know for this ECNL season.
There is a lot of depth in the goalkeeper position in North Carolina in this class. Wilmington Hammerheads greatly benefits from that with two standouts in goal for one team. Williams and her club teammate Emma Erickson Emma Erickson 5’10” | GK Jacksonville | 2025 State NC are both outstanding players. Williams is a great shot-stopper. She is excellent at getting her body behind the ball and knocking down powerful shots. She has the athleticism to cover the whole frame of the net too.
