Continue ReadingThe recruiting game heated up last week as a number of the top programs received the verbal commitment from players in the class of 2024. Oklahoma led the way for the week for three verbal commitments from the class in the last week. The Sooners’ class is now up to five players for 2024: Laney Kalsu Laney Kalsu D St. Michael's (TX) | 2024 TX and Ella Lewis Ella Lewis M McKinney Boyd (TX) | 2024 #207 Nation TX were the first two to give their verbal commitment to Oklahoma.
UCLA, Stanford, and Notre Dame also landed verbal commitments in the last week. If you would like to report a verbal commitment from the class of 2024, email commit@prepsoccer.com.

Jaden Thomas Jaden Thomas F Hockaday (TX) | 2024 State #33 Nation TX pushed the Stanford 2024 class to six players last week with her verbal commitment. Thomas is a top, top player. She missed most of last club season due to injury. Her return was a welcome sign for her club side as she made an impact during the ECNL playoffs. Thomas is looking like one of the top players from the class of 2024 recently. She scored two goals and had two assists during the opening weekend of the club season. She added the game-winning goal last weekend. Thomas is a skillful player with determination. The sky is the limit, and she is headed to a program that will push her to new highs.
Abby Kudla Abby Kudla GK Strongsville (OH) | 2024 OH is a 5-foot-7 goalkeeper with impressive athleticism. She has active feet and does well in her positioning before the shot attempt so she is in the best position to make the save. Her ability to get to low shots quickly was one of the main attributes that stood out from her highlight reel. She also stood out on tape for her ability to quickly react to rebounds and shut down second attempts. She has a lot of potential to develop into a top goalkeeper at the college level. She is joining a Memphis program that has two goalkeepers in the sophomore class and one freshman so early playing time might be hard to come by for the Tigers.
Amsden is part of the talented Colorado Rapids ECNL team that was national finalist last club season. She is a top midfielder from Colorado. She is a two-footed midfielder. I’ve seen her score great goals from outside of the box with either foot. She is a weapon in the attack – and probably could play with her back to the goal if needed, but she is at her best in a two-way No. 8 role. She reads the game well and offers a weapon with her ball striking from long-distance shots. Amsden is a building block for this incredible Oklahoma class that also added top talents Aurora Gaines Aurora Gaines null | F Cambridge (GA) | 2024 State #108 Nation GA and Anaiyah Robinson Anaiyah Robinson F Bridgeland (TX) | 2024 State #119 Nation TX in the last week.
Mills is arguably the most intriguing commitment of the last week. The Michigan Hawks defender is a strong defender who reads the game well. She has excellent vision and hits her passes consistently accurately. She is good at 1v1 duels, and looks to be a left center back that could develop into an early starter at the college level, which makes no surprise as to why the top programs were interested in her verbal commitment. The intrigue comes from her landing spot. Rutgers, a powerhouse in college soccer, has a heavy reliance on players from New Jersey so it’s rare to see the program prioritize an out-of-state player. Mills deserves that type of attention so it’s a big win for the Rutgers program to get her verbal commitment at this point.
Charlie Heuer Charlie Heuer F #39 Nation IL announced his verbal commitment to Indiana this week. The Hoosiers’ recruiting efforts remain among the best in college soccer. Heuer impressed scouts with his play at the MLS Next events during the last season. The expectation is he will only get better with the coaching at FC United. He is one of the brightest attacking talents in the club game, and an exciting addition for the Hoosiers 2024 class.
