Matt Tettemer
Matt Tettemer
Tettemer was named to the MACS All-State Second Team and to the Anne Arundel All-County First Team for his exceptional work between the posts for Broadneck this fall. The Bruins made it to the 4A Regional Semifinals thanks in large part to Tettemer’s excellent footwork and technique. Against attackers he typically takes great angles to prevent direct goal-scoring opportunities and to limit the attackers passing options. Broadneck was a young side last season but under his leadership they should flourish next fall.
Brandon Rollins
Brandon Rollins
Rollins helped Lackey finish first in the Southern Maryland Athletic Conference and reach the Semifinals last season with an impressive 182 saves on 15 goals allowed. He is a strong, physical goalkeeper that likes to go directly at attackers with impeccable timing. He also possesses a booming right foot that can easily jump start the counter-attack for his teammates. His eight shutout set a singe-season school record and with a large number of his backline returning next season, he should likely expand on that.
Jacob Taylor
Jacob Taylor
Taylor led a young CH Flowers side to an Maryland 3A Regional appearance, which included a big victory in penalties over Roosevelt in the opening round where. As a junior, he made 79 saves on the season with a save percentage of 79 percent. He is a very athletic goalkeeper (he also plays basketball at Flowers) that can make acrobatic diving efforts look easy. But he is also an exceptional leader, always giving advice to his defenders on positioning and keeping them organized during difficult moments.
Maxim Davis
Maxim Davis
Davis was the top goalkeeper in the Maryland 3A Region in 2022, leading the Oakdale to the Regional Finals. The Junior goalkeeper held a .67 Goals Against Average and alongside his defense earned six shutouts. For his efforts, he was named to the Frederick County Post All-First Team and the Central Maryland Conference All-First Team. He has excellent vision and has superb timing when setting up plays. His club side, Alliance Soccer Club, is one of the main contenders for this year’s U.S. Youth Soccer National League title which will give him excellent experience ahead of the 2023 Fall Season.
TS Roth
TS Roth
Roth helped an inexperienced Georgetown Day defense grow throughout the 2022 season and eventually turn the corner. Against a very difficult St. Stephens and St. Agnes side in the Interstate Athletic Conference Quarterfinals, he made several outstanding saves to hold the match scoreless and eventually earn the upset in penalties. He is a tall, physical goalkeeper that can make the timely challenges necessary to end attacking chances. For his efforts, he was named to the 2022 IAC All-First Team.
Gary Wright
Gary Wright
Wright had a strong first season as Middletown’s starting goalkeeper, pulling the side to a 12-3-1 record in the Central Maryland Conference- Gambrills Region and making it to the Maryland State 2A Regional Semifinals. He is an excellent organizer of defenses and always seems to take the right angle when going one-on-one versus attackers. He also possesses superb footwork and can make the difficult diving challenge when needed. Like Davis, he plays for an Alliance Soccer side that is one of the top teams in the National League so he will get plenty of work ahead of the fall 2023 season.
