Prep Soccer followed some of the action, watching four matches during the first two days of the event, and seeing eight of the 64 teams – Atascocita, Bridgeland, Cy-Fair, Deer Park, Fort Bend Clements, Friendswood, Lake Highlands and Memorial – make really interesting things on the field.
During this week, we’re navigating through each position and featuring some of the players from these teams that left a really strong impression. The only position we have left is forward, so let’s not waste any more time and jump into it.
Robinson was easily the most complete and talent forward I got to watch last week as was huge for her Bridgeland team. She’s a player who can hurt teams in a variety of ways as her skill set is truly impressive and diversified. Robinson has an excellent pace and is really hard to catch when running on an open field. She can also combine with her teammates and make plays coming from the wing. Very tall, Robinson can also work as a target striker, playing with her back to the goal and getting the ball to her feet to make plays. In any of these positions, she’s also a fabulous finisher, who will not miss from close range.
Chloe Le

Le was everywhere on the front line of Fort Bend Clements. Very dynamic and mobile, she works really hard to get on the ball, moving around the field to find open spaces. She’s a player who can be dangerous from wide positions or more centrally due to her ability to dribble the ball and finish on target. Le is also very good at combining with her teammates and getting the ball back up top, where she can use her pace to make a difference. Also more often used as a striker, she’s also very high on creating for her teammates.

Hoppers is another player who does great movement off the ball. Although her main role with Lake Highlands had her on the left, she roamed all over the team’s attacking third to give options to her teammates. Hoppers is very good at dribbling the ball and can be lethal when gets it with space on the left and cuts inside, bringing it to her right foot to finish. She can shoot really well from long distance and is typically a threat in set pieces.

Delgado typically plays as an offensive-minded left-back with her club team Challenge SC, but has been used higher up in the field with Atascocita. Her ability to dribble the ball and create chances make of her a good fit for the position and she immediately became the team’s top offensive option. Delgado is very aggressive on the ball and will often try to beat opponents off the dribble and take the ball to the end line. She also has the skill to connect good through passes down the middle and to finish from distance.

Paulson thrived playing a second forward role for Memorial that suits her skill set very well. Very mobile, she’s great at finding spaces to get on the ball between the lines and making good decisions in no time to connect with her teammates. She typically circulates in the central area of the field, but is also productive when getting wider and using her pace and dribbling to push forward.
