Prep Soccer was in attendance during the first two days of the event and we were able to watch eight different teams compete -Eisenhower, Fort Bend Clements, George Ranch, Memorial, Royal, Shadow Creek, Seven Lakes and Tompkins.
Several prospects stood out in the matches involving these teams and we’re going over each of them during the week. As we continue to progress through the positions, let’s now feature some of the most impressive midfielders from these teams:
Aidan Morrison
Aidan Morrison
Morrison was one of the catalysts of Seven Lakes’ strong campaign in the tournament, registering three goals and three assists in three matches. He has a very elegant playing style, keeping his head up the entire time and always looking for passes to break the defensive line. Morrison is very clean on the ball with both feet and very smart and at times it looks like he saw the play unfold before it actually did. He also does a very good of identifying the perfect moments to drop back or push forward and is that kind of player who doesn’t need a lot of touches to create something.
Jose Ramos
Jose Ramos
Ramos was the main creative force for Tompkins during the tournament. Playing more to the left of the Falcons’ midfield, he was really difficult to stop and generates several goal opportunities for his team. Ramos is very good at dribbling the ball and accelerating the game, but is not selfish and doesn’t force plays, often making intelligent decisions and sharing the ball with his teammates. He’s very quick and has good movement inside and around the penalty box, besides being very productive in set pieces.
Sebastian Badillo
Sebastian Badillo
Badillo’s talent on the ball is instrumental for his Royal team. He plays on a very well-organized side, but is typically the one to produce the offensive spark the Falcons need to win matches. Badillo can create chances off the dribble or with his vision and passing and is also a good finisher, even from mid-range. He’s also very skilled and calm on set pieces even when under pressure and that was in full display when he scored two clutch goals to give Royal the comeback win over Shadow Creek.
Tobias Herrera
Tobias Herrera
Herrera’s game has excellent range as he’s capable of impacting the game on both sides of the ball. Although he plays a prominent defensive role for his George Ranch team in the center of the field, he’s also heavily involved with their offense acting as a deep-lying playmaker. Herrera is a modern player who can do a little bit of everything in the middle, be it connecting good passes, making aggressive forward runs or shooting from distance.

Moriarty was a rock in the midfield of his team Fort Bend Clements. He played a central role for them, operating on the center of the field, and was very involved with their defensive and offensive efforts. His 5’11” size allows him to have great success in getting the ball back and shielding it from opponents in crowded areas of the field. He’s also very efficient on the ball, finding good passes through the middle and often distributing the game to wider positions.
