The update to the rankings comes after the fall club season and takes into account the opening couple of months of the high school season. The plan is to update the rankings once again after the high school season and before the club playoffs.
Two players have been moved out of the rankings. Leena Powell Leena Powell M State #12 Nation CA from Tudela FC was moved to the 2026 class. Shiana Samarasinghe Shiana Samarasinghe null | F #87 Nation CA from MVLA was moved to the 2024 class. While those two were placed into their proper graduating class, over two dozen new players were added to the rankings.
Below is a scouting report on some new names to the list, but also some names that should continue to be on the radar this year.
Zuvic is one of those players who is between watch list and rankings on the rankings scale, which means that she has impressed in spurts but there is not a full scouting report on her. Zuvic earns a spot in the rankings for now, but could be a rapid riser during the next update. She is a talented winger for the Beach FC ECNL 06 team. She has a dynamic burst and the qualities to win in 1v1 duels. She has impressed at the high school level with 10 goals and six assists in 11 games (stats via MaxPreps) this season.
Darby is a new name to the rankings for this update. The midfielder had a stellar club season last year with Sporting CA Arsenal 07 ECNL. She earned a spot on the ECNL All-Conference First Team. She is a workhorse in the midfield. She is tough in the tackle and quick in transition. Darby has qualities that should translate to the next level including her impressive work ethic. She is a determined player who has great vision and good skill. High school teammate Ella Garcia Ella Garcia M Webb | 2025 CA is a player on the watch list in this update, but could be one to watch in the spring as she is having a breakout campaign for Webb.
Highlights
Koerwitz was a player scouted at the ECNL National Event in Phoenix. She is a terrific defender. Her 1v1 instincts are rare for a player at this age. She was excellent at timing of her tackle and using her body to shield players off the ball. She has a bright future at center back especially in a system that allows her to take on the center forward in a man-marking situation.
The San Diego Surf 07 ECNL goalkeeper snags a spot on the rankings in this update. The last line of defense for the Surf has been outstanding this season. Soraya Souvanaphong Soraya Souvanaphong null | GK State CA splits time in goal with Ella Kruntchev Ella Kruntchev 5’8″ | GK State CA for the Surf ECNL side. At the high school level, Souvanaphong stands on her own and shines brightly. She has a quiet confidence and carries herself well on the field. She is good at securing crosses in traffic and quick off her line.
The aforementioned Kruntchev is the other goalkeeper for that Surf ECNL side. She is five-foot-eight with all of the physical tools to be a starting goalkeeper at the next level. She is quick off her line, athletic, and has a fearless streak in challenges. She is good with her feet and can ping a pass with her left foot anywhere across the field.
Highlights
Arciaga is a new name to the rankings with this update, but a player that is very much in the spotlight during the high school season. Arciaga misses out on portions of the club season because she is a nationally ranked cross country runner. She is also a star on the track (800 and 1600 are her events). The multi-sport athlete is often the busiest player on the field. Her appearance in the state rankings reflects her recent play at the high school level. She is shining at the varsity level as her skill and quick combination play is really getting a proper look. Arciaga is a clever dribbler too and has a unique skill to work out of trouble. She could be one of the top under-the-radar talents in San Diego and California.
Osgueda is another player who is in the middle of a stellar campaign at the high school level. The forward has been a bright spot for her club team, Davis Legacy ECNL 07, and carried over that form to the school level. She is skillful and a terrific finisher. She is capable of taking players on with either foot. Her best attribute is her pressing as she created a number of chances with her work while defending. She is very good when shielding a defender off the ball and then facing the defense with the ball at her feet. She can create chances and finish with the same efficiency, which is a rare trait for a center forward.
Highlights
A clever midfielder who is strong on the ball and always looking forward. Davis Legacy’s attack goes with Villagran as she is capable of connecting the line with her accurate passing as well as excellent vision. She is also tough to knock off the ball so she is a player who can break pressure and work out of traps.
Left-footed center midfielder who could be an attacking midfielder or a box-to-box midfielder at the next level. McCarty is part of the Davis team that has been successful in the very difficult Northern California bracket in the ECNL this season. She has a good first touch that allows her to get her head up and scan for options. She has done well in connecting passes and moving without the ball. McCarty is another new name and is included in the Watch List on the rankings update.
Kraemer is one of the goalkeepers on the San Juan ECNL 07 team. She is a sure-handed prospect in that position. She is good at distribution once the ball in her hands. She does well in finding the advantage for her team and starting the attack. She has a tendency to play safe, and stays on her line, but she is smart about when she is needed to come off the line. She instills confidence in her teammates and does well with shot-stopping on driven shots.
