We’ll also be presenting some of the most promising teams that we get to watch live so you know them a little bit better.
Royal Falcons
The Royal Falcons from Brookshire are one of the teams that compete in the UIL Division 4A – Region 3, District 20. The team will be looking for their third-straight playoff appearance and hopefully to improve from their 2020-2021 campaign, when they made it to the Regional Semifinals. The Falcons have a good balance between seniors and underclassmen in their squad.
Players to Watch
Mauricio Perez
Mauricio Perez
Royal’s starting goalkeeper Perez gives the team a lot of reliability between the posts. He’s not very tall, but is very agile and does an excellent job of catching shots without allowing second chances for opposing attackers. Perez is very quick and efficient when dropping his position to deny opponents in 1-v-1 situations and is source of great safety to his teammates.
Jose Morales
Jose Morales
Morales is a key piece in Royal’s playing system because of his ability to control the center of the field from his defensive midfielder role. He’s a very solid defensive player, who plays hard, makes great interceptions and wins the ball back quite often. Morales is very clean in possession too and pushes the team forward with his good ball distribution. Also capable of playing as a center back, he also impacts the game offensively with his ability to finish from long distance.
Sebastian Badillo
Sebastian Badillo
Badillo is Royal’s offensive linchpin. His talent on the ball is remarkable and provides with Falcon with the quality and the creativity they need to create plays. The midfielder can play in a more central position or drifting to the left and is dangerous on both spots. Badillo’s vision and the quality of his passing make of him a very good organizer, but he’s also capable of progressing the ball with his dribbling. He’s very precise on set pieces and is very calm, even when under pressure.
Valente Hinojosa
Valente Hinojosa
Capable of playing in the midfield or in a more advanced position, Hinojosa has an interesting playing style, which is particularly helpful when Royal are struggling to create plays collectively. Typically positioned in one of the flanks, he has excellent ball control and an interesting ability to dribble. Hinojosa is very direct and always finds a way to push the ball forward with his runs, often creating chances on his own.
Aldo Celestino
Aldo Celestino
Royal’s most advanced player, Celestino works hard battling opposing center backs. Despite his diminutive frame, he’s very hard to win the ball from because of his great movement and his ability to shield the ball. He’s constantly looking for open spaces to get on the ball and is very dangerous with his runs on and off the ball. Celestino is a very dribbler and is very quick, a combination that usually draws several free kicks in dangerous spots and even penalty kicks for his team. He’s also very calm to finish in front of the goal.
