<p>The 2023 season kicked off this week highlighted by the Keepers Cup Memorial tournament in Williamsburg. Previously unranked no. 17 Tabb and no. 5 Lafayette both finished the event with identical 2-0-1 records after they drew 1-1. Tabb won the tournament on tiebreakers and Hannah Clark was named tournament MVP. Lafayette's Riley Bennet recorded a hat trick in their 4-0 win over Warhill. </p>

<p>No. 1 Kellam started off hot with a 4-0 clean sheet over no. 15 Jamestown with goals by Kristyn Bernal, [player_tooltip player_id='157713' first='Alyssa' last='Chuderewicz'] and a brace by Dylan McEntarfer. The Knights followed that up with another win over a ranked squad, no. 7 Norfolk Academy led by Jashyra Johnson, [player_tooltip player_id='46428' first='Ava' last='Chuderewicz']and Taylor Garofalo who all scored. </p>

<p>Smithfield moves up a spot to no. 3 after a dominating win over Churchland and a close 3-2 win over no. 11 Princess Anne. [player_tooltip player_id='46426' first='Katie' last='Lutz'] opened her account with a four goal performance on Tuesday and [player_tooltip player_id='27731' first='Emma' last='Forbes'] scored a brace on Friday.</p>

<p>No. 4 Cox drops a spot after a hard fought 1-1 draw versus #6 Grassfield. [player_tooltip player_id='110457' first='Ava' last='Rassool'] scored the lone goal for the Falcons. Cox then knocked off First Flight (NC) 3-0 which saw Makiah Correa score twice and Rassool had another goal plus an assist.</p>

<p>Grassfield posted two good results, a 1-1 draw with no. 4 Cox and then beat no. 18 Landstown 1-0 on a Ava Roberts header. The Grizzlies move up a spot to no. 6</p>
