These were the best teams in the Lone Star State up to this point of the season and expect some tough battles for the six state titles to take place over the next four days at the Birkelbach Field. We’ve prepared previews for each division in order to get you ready for what’s to come next.
Division 6A – Boys
Friday, April 14 – Semifinals
5:0 am – Seven Lakes (Region 3) vs. Sachse (Region 2)
7:30 pm – Allen (Region 1) vs. Dripping Springs (Region 4)
Saturday, April 15 – Finals
6:30 pm – Winner of Semifinal #1 vs. Winner of Semifinal #2
Team Previews
Seven Lakes
The Seven Lakes Spartans from Katy are back in the State Tournament for the second time after falling in the semifinals last season. The Spartans produced a record of 26 wins, one loss and one tie during the season and were the top team in District 19 with 15 wins and one tie (they scored 58 goals and conceded seven). Seven Lakes’ playoff run had wins over Fort Bend Austin, Bellaire, Cinco Ranch, Clear Springs and Pasadena Dobie.
Players to Watch: Aidan Morrison (M, junior), Kortay Koc Kortay Koc null | F Seven Lakes | 2025 TX (F, sophomore) and Hunter Merritt (F, senior)
Sachse
The Sachse Mustangs from Sachse will make their first trip to the State Tournament this season. The team had 21 victories and six losses during the season, ranking second in District 9 with 11 wins and five defeats (42 goals for, 15 against). The Mustangs had close wins against Royse City, Mansfield, Duncanville, Cy-Woods and The Woodlands in the postseason.
Players to Watch: Josh Weston (GK, sophomore), Axel Gomez (M, junior) and Cooper Tea (M, senior)
Allen
The Allen Eagles from Allen will make their second State Tournament appearance after making it to the semifinals two years ago, in 2021. The Eagles hold a record of 20 wins, two losses and five ties for the entire season and finished second in District 5 with nine victories, two defeats and three ties (38 goals for, 11 against). In the postseason, Allen overcame Lewisville, Irving Nimitz, Irving, Timber Creek and Lake Highlands on their way to qualify for the State Tournament.
Players to Watch: Alec Setterberg (GK, senior), Evan Pustejovsky Evan Pustejovsky F TX (M, senior) and Cade Dollarhide (F, senior)
Dripping Springs
The Dripping Springs Tigers from Dripping Springs return to the State Tournament for a second consecutive season and are set to make their third appearance, following the first time in 2010. Drippings Springs had an overall record of 14 wins, 11 losses and two ties – they took the fourth and last spot in the playoffs in District 16 with a campaign of eight victories, seven defeats and one tie (32 goals scored, 31 conceded). The Tigers found their best game in the postseason, beating Round Rock Westwood, San Antonio Reagan, Round Rock Stony Point, Laredo Alexander and Brownsville Rivera.
Players to Watch: Parker Johnson Parker Johnson D Dripping Springs | 2025 State TX (M, sophomore), Mason Russell (F, senior) and York Merrill (F, senior)
