Below is a few of the names from Texas’ 2025 class that made an impression from either club postseason events or other league showcases during the past few months.
Mejia earned a spot on the Conference Cup roster. He is a versatile player who is one of the most exciting prospects at the event. He is listed as a forward/midfielder on the ECNL roster for the event. He can play as a wide winger (likely on the left) or a central defensive midifelder. On the wing, he likes to cut inside on his right foot. He also likes to break the ankles of defenders. He is one of the best dribblers in the ECNL. At defensive midfield, he is a tough-nosed player who is a playmaker from that role. Mejia has the tenacity and work ethic to be in this game for a long time. It will be interesting to see which position he features at more often during the all-star event.
Kortay Koc Kortay Koc null | F Seven Lakes | 2025 TX has been highlighted this season for his stellar play at the high school level. The attacker is playing with AC Houston Sur Pre-Professional in the USL League 2 this summer. He is one of the youngest players in that division. He is still standing out from those games. He started and scored a goal in a game in June. He is an attacking midfielder with possibility to play on the wing. He is dynamic on the ball. He likes to take players on and get after them at pace. At the high school level, he toys with defenders. He holds possession like a yo-yo and sends defenders in circles. He adapted his game well for the USL 2 level, which should be a good showcase for scouts for the next level.
Highlights
Gall is another player part of the ECNL Conference Cup. He comes from a soccer family – dad coaches at FC Dallas, brother plays for Xavier – so there is no mystery here among scouts who know. He played up an age group in the Boys ECNL this season as a part of the FC Dallas 05/04 group. He is a center midfielder – either as a box-to-box midfielder or a defensive midfielder. He has the tools to be an impact player in either role. His tackling in the open field is among the best in the ECNL. He is an incredibly smart player who is a leader on the field.
Houston Dynamo had a few players earn a call-up to the older age group for the MLS Next Showcase event this summer. Nguema is one of the players from outside of the rankings to have an impressive performance during the MLS Next games. He is a center midfielder with impressive athletic ability. Dynamo has been giving him chances with Dynamo II, which shows how highly he is regarded within the club.
Hunter Sauser Hunter Sauser 5’7″ | F Denton Guyer | 2025 TX is a slippery midfielder who has impressed this past season for both club and high school. He previously played for another club in Dallas, but now suits up for Dallas Texans. He has all of the attributes that scouts look for in prospects from a center midfielder – skill, vision, toughness, and work rate. Sauser’s strong technical foundation also shows on the field. He is comfortable on the ball. He does well in always scanning before receiving the ball and quickly reading the opposition. He recently scored a great goal for his Texans side at the Dana Cup in Denmark. He is one to watch from this group.
