The U17 age group (2007) featured some top talent in the Champions Cup as well as the Winter Showcase. Below are the individual standouts from the action PrepSoccer saw at the event.
Karissa Wilson, SDSC Surf – Wilson showed all the tool sot be an exceptional outside back at the next level. She has the elite pace to match up against wingers. Wilson was exceptional against Sporting Nebraska. She saw a lot of the ball early on in the game and did well in creating chances for her side.
Adeline Bosiljevac, Sporting Nebraska – The Sporting Nebraska goalkeeper made a few good saves early on against SDSC Surf. She had a tip save on a hard shot and then a diving reach on a flick off a cross on another.
Olivia Thompson, Sporting Nebraska – Thompson was a standout in the midfield for Sporting Nebraska. She is a good prospect from a man-marking center midfielder. She can take a player out of the game with her work ethic. She is a box-to-box type of player. She offers some quality on the ball too with a good first touch and made some key passes for her side.
Alena Ramirez, SDSC Surf – Ramirez stood out from the game against Sporting Nebraska. She covered a ton of ground and created chances for herself and her teammates.
Leena Powell Leena Powell M State #12 Nation CA , Tudela FC – Powell had the sidelines packed for her side’s games at the event. The US Youth National Team winger lived up to the reputation against Century United. She was given probably too much space and time on the ball – and she greedily took advantage of it. Powell’s pace on the ball immediately stands out from in-person scouting. She has similar attributes to Onyeka Gamero Onyeka Gamero F Whitney (CA) | 2024 State CA in that regard. Powell just glides past people with her elite speed.
Gemma Luber, Tudela FC – Luber was very good against Century United. The right back was one of the bright spots of the TFC defense. She was good on the ball and found her teammates feet with accurate passing. Defesnively, she was a shutdown defender and cleanly won duels.
London Cespedes, Tudela FC – Cespedes is a talented midfielder. She was excellent at reading the game and cutting out passes. She was calm on the ball when she won possession and quickly got the ball out of her feet and progressed it up the field when the opportunity was available. Misganech Teahan was also excellent for Tudela FC in the midfield.
Maggie di Rienzo, Tudela FC – di Rienzo really impressed me with her communication. The goalkeeper was loud and clear with her instructions to her teammates. She did not make a save while I was watching the game, but she showed well with her feet. Her teammates were comfortable using her to reset or switch the point of attack.
Alina Ong Alina Ong F Arcadia | 2025 State CA , Tudela FC – Ong was another bright spot of the attack for Tudela FC. She doesn’t possess breakaway pace, but she does not quit on the play and often created chances with her effort. Ong has good skill and can finish from tight angles.
Aubrey Wells, Century United – Wells impressed me with her activity in the center of the field. She was good in the transition – both in terms of her defense and how quickly she looked to spring the attack the other way. Olivia Della Lucia was also good in the midfield for Century.
Miley Kariotis, Century United – Kariotis was excellent at tracking runners through the midfield. She stood out for her defensive work in a tough game against a talented Tudela side.
Izzy Matteson, Albion SC – Matteson was a standout from the game against Michigan Jaguars. She is dynamic on the ball. She just burst past players with the ball at her feet. I like that she is willing to cut inside or take the defender to the end line. The ability to go in either direction always keeps a defender guessing and she is great at identifying when a defender is crossed up and dribbling past them.
Sophia Bowman, Michigan Jaguars – Bowman was a standout for her offensive contributions for her side. She has a good first touch and keeps close control of the ball. She is excellent passer.
Ella Thompson, Michigan Jaguars – Thompson created a goal out of nothing against Albion. She is a willing presser and gives full effort at every opportunity. The forward is an impactful player.
Emily Williamson, Michigan Jaguars – Williamson was seemingly everywhere for the defense. She was great at providing cover when needed and did well on her side when in 1v1 duels. She was an excellent outside back. Lauren McCaul was a bright spot of the Michigan defense as well.
Elle Wildman, Salvo SC – The Iowa commit was impressive against New York Soccer Club. She is a center forward with good quality on the ball. She could be more selfish but she is the type of forward who makes her teammates better. She really shined when the service was clean into her feet and she could turn defenders and get on goal. Wildman has the quality to be an impactful player at the next level.
Ellie Ohlmann, Salvo SC – Ohlmann was a standout for Salvo SC against New York Soccer Club. She played as a winger, but it’s easy to see her potential as an outside back. She’s an excellent defender and really did well in pressing and creating chances for her side.
Riley Lijewski, Salvo SC – Lijewski, the Ohio State commit, had an impressive showing for Salvo SC. She was an imposing figure in the center of the field. She had good ideas on the ball and made some quality passes.
Chrysoula Gabriel, New York Soccer Club – Gabriel played exceptionally well in the game against Salvo SC. She was great at talking and organizing her defense. She made a couple of great saves too.
Lily Kiliski, New York SC – Kiliski was a standout in the midfield for NYSC. She did well in using her body to hold off defenders. She had a good first touch and kept close control of the ball. She made good decisions on the ball.
Daryn Barnes, Baltimore Celtic – Barnes is a fun player to watch. She has all of the tools to be a difference-maker in the final third – excellent vision, good skill on the ball, and quick feet to dance away from defenders. She was one of the best attacking talents from the 2026 class at the event.
Mack Hobik, Baltimore Celtic – Hobik stood out for her quality on the ball in terms of ball striking. She has a sweet left foot and can hit an excellent shot from the run of play and also delivered a great corner kick.
Alaina Subong, Baltimore Celtic – Subong played as the right back for Baltimore Celtic. She has a great two-way game. She is good going forward and hit an excellent cross. She also did well in cutting out passes with her positioning.
Emeline McClenahan, FC United – McClenahan was outstanding in goal for FC United, a club that has developed some of the best goalkeepers in the country in recent years. McClenahan had a good all-around game against Baltimore Celtic.
Olivia Hernandez, FC United – Hernandez was a standout for her skill on the ball. She had a slick turn to evade a defender against Baltimore Celtic. She did well with a good body feint too.
Audrey Alberts, FC United – Alberts’ ability to progress the ball forward – either through the pass or dribble – really stood out against Baltimore Celtic. She was great at identifying when the opportunity was available for her to dribble forward and possible get a shot on goal.
Addison Lockerby, FC United – Lockerby had a good game in the midfield for FC United against Celtic. She put her foot on the ball and controlled the pace of the game.
Avery Splear, FC United – Splear played outside back against Baltimore Celtic and did a bit of everything well. She was great in the tackle and quick to find the outlet. She did well in shielding attackers off the ball too.
Julia Arbelaez, New York SC – Arbelaez impressed with her quality on the break – when her team was running, they did well in finding her feet and letting her make decisions on the ball to provide opportunities to the best option to score. She’s a smart midfielder who should shine at the next level. Sydney Kassel was also a standout for NYSC.
Abby Olsen, Wasatch – Olsen was excellent at left back for Wasatch against NYSC. She did well in taking the ball down from the air with her first touch and keeping control. She played tight on her mark and dispossessed the opposition on any bad touch. Macie Burton was also outstanding at right back for Wasatch.
Taylee Hughes, Wasatch – The Wasatch forward immediately set the tone with her energetic pressing and intelligent defending. Her first line approach to the defense made life tough on the opposition and created chances for her side.
Eden Wheeler, South Shore Select – Wheeler was one of the stars of the South Shore Select squad that was dominant at the event. The center back was nearly perfect against Florida United. Wheeler hits a great corner kick too. Alyssa Ruiz was also excellent defensively for South Shore.
Meghan O’Neil, South Shore Select – O’Neil was another center back standout for South Shore Select. I was so impressed with her composure and poised on the ball. She would intercept the pass and immediately look to spring the ball the other way. She’s a very good defender too, hence the success of South Shore.
Grace White Grace White F State MO , Lou Fusz – White was a standout at forward for Lou Fusz. She showed off her quality on the ball with her dribbling display down the touch line to dance past defenders in the game against Ukrainians. I love the activity off the ball too. She makes great diagonal runs and is a really tough player to mark.
Addison Baldus Addison Baldus null | D O'Fallon | 2025 State #307 Nation MO , Lou Fusz – Baldus put on a masterclass performance against Ukrainians. She was great when she was marking – close on the touch, smart about timing of the tackle, and controlled where the attacker could go. Baldus was equally as good on the ball. She plays clean, strong passes into her teammates.
Julia Molnar, Ukrainian Nationals – Molnar had her standout performance against LA Surf with a hat trick, but she impressed me against Lou Fusz. She had a moment in the first half when she pulled off a great slide tackle on a pop-n-slide and immediately took off the other way with the ball. She offers this pace of play that not many club players can match.
Sofia Peters, Lonestar – Lonestar with three shutout victories. The Texas squad relied on a rock-solid defense to lead them to the top of their group at the event. Peters, Renee Kit Kat Valentine, and Sloane Guion were outstanding.
