Both teams showcased they can build out of the back well and are comfortable doing so. Crossfire Premier had the first real chance in the match in the first three minutes. San Diego Surf showed creative team work to get out of tight areas in both halves. They showcased they do well at playing each other the way they face and keeping the ball in tight areas. Crossfire Premier were able to make it 1-0 from a free kick about 15 minutes into the match. The free kick was well taken from the sideline and Vienna Whipple Vienna Whipple 5'11" | D Lakeside School | 2027 State #6 Nation WA was there to tap in the bouncing ball. The game was very back and forth after the goal. Each team had times of keeping the ball in the attacking half but Crossfire was more dangerous. San Diego Surf did a good job of keeping Crossfire out of the box but Josie Biehl had a great performance with some big saves later in the game. Overall, both teams showed they work well together and build off each other instead of having one go-to player. San Diego Surf played a hard-fought game with creative ideas going forward. But Crossfire Premier were able to have more success in the attacking third and won 1-0 in this competitive game.
Josie Biehl plays as a goalkeeper for San Diego Surf G08. Biehl showcased she can connect passes well and makes big saves. She had two major moments towards the end of the game that were impressive saves to keep the hope alive for San Diego Surf to come back into this game. Biehl had good reactions to the shots Crossfire Premier tested her with. Biehl also made good decisions when she had the ball and displayed, she has a strong leg. Overall, Josie Biehl had a good game with the amount of chances Crossfire had. She was confident and calm under pressure with the ability to handle difficult shots.

Ashley May Ashley May 5’9″ | M San Marcos | 2026 CA plays as a midfielder for San Diego Surf G08. May is a patient and strong player who looks to play off her teammates often. When she had the ball, she was confident under pressure. She was patient to play the open player to drag defenders out of position. May also did a good job of checking her shoulder before receiving the ball often. She was a big reason San Diego Surf was able to create opportunities in the attack. May also made a difference defensively in the midfield. She was able to make tackles before the back line to create counter attacks. Overall, Ashley May Ashley May 5’9″ | M San Marcos | 2026 CA was a strong and consistent midfielder who showed patience with good decisions.

Vienna Whipple Vienna Whipple 5’11” | D Lakeside School | 2027 State #6 Nation WA plays as a center back for Crossfire Premier G08. Whipple is a confident and strong center back who can thread passes well. She is able to break lines with her longer passes and shows she can switch the field well. Whipple showed accuracy her passing and does well with finding the open player. She scored the only goal of the game by being able to get on the end the free kick to secure the win for Crossfire Premier. Whipple did a good job of keeping the back line organized and preventing San Diego from getting many threatening attacking. Overall, Whipple showcased her strengths and was able to display an above average performance as a center back.
