Seven college commits, three juniors and a sophomore. Needless to say, the Sacramento Area is loaded when it comes to girls soccer talent. Though it is never easy to narrow it down to the Best XI, here is the All Area team for Sacramento.

Photo: Turf Blur

KEEPER: Gray Wilson from Del Oro is a stud. Period. She gave up five goals all season long, allowing less than a quarter of a goal per game. She is committed to the University of Miami and when you talk to people in the Sacramento area and ask them who the best keeper is, Wilson is the name that rings loudest. She is athletic, she is vocal, she is brave and she is a great shot stopper.

DEFENDERS: Three defenders make the list and two of them are underclassmen as junior [player_tooltip player_id='77956' first='Maggie' last='Koerwitz'] of St. Francis and sophomore Sophia Smiley make the list. Koerwitz plays at San Juan SC and has been an ECNL all-Northern California selection, while Smiley was selected at the Pioneer League MVP as a sophomore. The senior is Tessa Ferguson, from Granite Bay, who is committed to Santa Clara, one of the best women's soccer programs in the country. Ferguson is a fierce competitor, a lockdown defender with tremendous skill. She can do it all.

MIDFIELDERS: Four midfielders make the list, three of them seniors, and two of them college committed. Nalani Damacion of Rocklin is headed to the University of Hawaii and Yazmin Azar of St. Francis will be playing at Coastal Carolina. Both are well-rounded midfielders, who work hard and display plenty of creativity. Senior Dakota Harris of Del Oro is a low heart-rate player, one who remains calm but plays hard and was a driving force. She is also heading to play DI next year, as she is committed to Eastern Washington. Miya Almares of Davis High is the lone underclassmen as the junior was the heart and soul of the Blue Devils, really standing out in the attack, but never failed to get back and help defend and get Davis's defenders back into their shape.

FORWARDS: [player_tooltip player_id='74000' first='Kiana' last='Faucette'] was a big standout for Del Oro as she was the team's leading scorer, and just displayed the things you want to see out of a forward who is moving on to DI soccer at the University of San Francisco. She can create, she can get on the end of service and she can hold up play. Samantha Liaty of Oak Ridge is headed to Tarleton State to play as she was the Trojans leading scorer with 12 goals and also had seven assists. Kaia Diedrichs, a junior at Colfax, was the league MVP this year, which she ceded to Smiley, but had another outstanding year with 26 goals and now has 110 goals in three seasons.
