Prep Soccer Texas was there following matches of the 17s and 16s divisions on the first two days of action. We've already highlighted some of the players who had strong performances in the matches we got to watch, so now we'll expand it a little bit more, splitting the standouts by division and position. We covered the 17s division last week and spent this week looking into the 16s - in the last piece of the series, know the forwards who were on fire in College Station:

Mullaney and her Classics Elite RL 08 team got one win and two losses in the event. She played as a forward for them, but operated more as a 'false nine', dropping deeper to get on the ball and make plays. Mullaney did a great job of understanding how to explore the space vacated by the defender who tracked her to the midfield line, making quick moves to create room and hitting very precise diagonal passes to the wingers in behind the backline. She also displayed good dribbling ability around the penalty box and fired dangerous shots with both feet.

Chism and her FC Dallas RL NTX 08 White had a win and a tie at the Texas Shootout, scoring six goals across both matches. She was mostly used as a second forward, coming from the left to the middle, and was very dangerous with her actions. Chism is very good at dribbling the ball and uses it to get to long passes in difficult spots, find her way through defenders and bring it to more dangerous areas around the penalty box. She connected very well with the team's wide players and also made some intelligent runs to the far post to finish crosses.

Medina was the focal point of the offense of her Sting Austin RL 08 team. She was physical enough to get on the end of long passes and work with her back to the goal, connecting with players coming from her team's half. Medina also displayed good pace and an interesting dribbling ability to get the ball in wider spots and make runs to beat defenders and create chances. She engaged in nice combination plays around the penalty box and had a brilliant backheel assist in one of the team's goals over the weekend.

Rochette led the line for her team Dynamos USC RL 08 over the weekend in College Station. Despite not being very tall or physical, she did some solid holdup play, getting the ball under pressure and either passing it to a teammate or making a quick turn on the defender to try and finish. Rochette moved very well in the final third and was also a passing option to her teammates. She also used her positioning to get to good finishing spots inside the penalty box.

Smith was the main offensive player in her NTX Celtic 08G Long South team. She didn't always have much support to create plays, but never stopped trying and her success in some of her attempts. Smith was really quick in her mind and that helped her find solutions to plays, even when she was surrounded by opponents. She also displayed great calm on the ball and used both feet well to dribble, pass and finish.
