Prep Soccer Texas was there following matches of the 17s and 16s divisions on the first two days of action. We've already highlighted some of the players who had strong performances in the matches we got to watch, so now we'll expand it a little bit more, splitting the standouts by division and position. This time, we'll feature some outside backs who make a good impression in the 17s divisions.

Brannan was an integral part of the Lonestar SC Black 07 GA team that got a win and a loss in College Station. She displayed great energy in their 2-0 victory over Solar SC RL NTX 07 White, running up and down the right flank the entire time and making herself available to teammates. Brannan displayed good quality going forward as she got into the final third with power and intelligence, dribbling the ball in tight spaces and sending good crosses from the end line. She was also very solid defensively, winning most of the duels she was involved with and using her physical tools to dispossess opponents.

Tomlin displayed interesting skills with her Solar SC RL NTX 07 White team that got a win and a loss in the event. She started the match against Lonestar SC Black 07 GA in her original right back position and did solid defensive work there, making good anticipations and shutting opponents down with her physical tools. Tomlin didn't push forward very often but did good things when that was the case, contributing with her passing and sending good crosses into the penalty box. She was moved to the striker role at some point and showed she had what it takes to play there too, giving opposing defenders a hard time with her pressure and her energy to fight for 50-50 balls.

One of the top right backs in Texas, Arreola played at her usual level in College Station, helping her team FC Dallas 07 ECNL get a pair of wins. Because of her ability to read the game and her athleticism, she kept things quiet on her side of the field, winning duels and cutting passing lanes with tremendous efficiency. Arreola also contributed a lot offensively and used her diverse skill set to hurt opponents in different ways. At times, she would play very wide and make great runs on and off the ball, while on other occasions she would come inside and help the midfielders circulate the ball with her passing.

Bryant and her Lonestar SC Red 07 GA team left College Station with a win and a loss. I watched them in a 2-0 loss against FC Dallas 07 ECNL in which the team was under heavy pressure for most of the match, but Bryant held her own at the right back position. A very physical player, she dominated her area well and got several stops. Bryant was at times tasked with defending two players, but still managed to avoid them to create dangerous plays. She used her body well to win possession and was very quick to make interceptions and put pressure on opponents after heavy first touches.

The left back for Rise SC 07 GA, Martinez had solid performances with the team in the event, helping them get three wins. She played a major defensive role for the team, working hard to win the ball back and not giving up too much space on her side of the field. Martinez did a very good job of shielding the ball with her body too and displayed quick thinking to initiate quick combination plays that helped the team break pressure and keep the ball. She didn't push forward a lot from the left, but supported the team's buildup, providing some quality to their passing.
