ECNL Girls Texas Conference U17: Three Forwards to Watch

<p>The highly competitive ECNL club league kicked off its 2024-2025 season on the weekend of August 24-25, with the first Conference matches taking place around the country and setting the floor for what's going to be ten intense months of soccer.</p>   <p>The Texas Conference has been one of the strongest in the league in the last few years and will continue to be this season as some of the most talented players in the nation represent clubs from the region. </p>   <p>Prep Soccer Texas will be following the action weekly and providing coverage in text, photo and social media posts, giving the talented prospects from the Lone Star State some well-deserved recognition and exposure. We start our coverage featuring some players to watch in the upcoming season. This week, we're diving deep into the talented U17 age group, and it's time we cover the last position and highlight some promising forwards in the region:</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">After missing most of the last season with an injury, Gonzalez will be back in full force with Sting Austin ECNL 08. Her return will significantly strengthen their offense as it will give her teammates a focal point to operate around and inside the penalty box. Gonzalez uses her body extremely well and is masterful when operating with her back to the goal, engaging in combination plays and making quick turns on defenders. She's very dangerous inside the penalty box, dribbling opponents in tight spaces and finishing with great efficiency.</p>    <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://x.com/ZEAGONZALEZecnl/status/1807861132872368441 </div></figure>    <p class="text-gray-700">Aguillon will be one of the offensive weapons of Classics Elite ECNL 08 this season. Despite her solid finishing skills, she's probably the most productive when used a little bit deeper in the field, getting more involved in the team's chance-creation. Aguillon is physically strong and very tough, which makes the tasks of getting the ball from her or even knocking her out of plays when she gets on the run very difficult. She's also very skilled on the ball and can beat opponents in tight spaces and find beautiful passes around the penalty box. One of the most complete and dynamic forwards in Texas, she's a handful to any defender with her incredible combination of physical and technical tools. She typically plays as a right winger and very few defenders can slow her down even a little bit because of her ability to dribble in progression and to change directions. Chaump is very technical and has excellent offensive instincts, often beating defenders with split-second decisions that would be impossible to anticipate.
